This song is pretty much exactly how I feel right now. I think he's writing about how he wants a girl so badly, but she doesn't feel the same about him. He hasn't gotten anywhere with his relationship with her, ("young and full of running, tell me where has that taken me..."), but he still thinks about it all the time ("love is really nothing but a dream that keeps me awake"). She's always on his mind ("keeps me awake"). He doesn't want to wait any longer ("don't say a word just come over and lie here with me"), and he's willing to do almost anything to get her ("I want you so bad I'll go back on the things I believe"). He wants her more than anything ("young and full of running all the way to the edge of desire") but he doesn't express his feeling to her ("steady my breathing, silently screaming") He needs her ("I have to have you now"). He hopes that he can fall asleep ("sleep in my clothes on the floor...") to wake up and be with her (maybe this mattress will spin on its axis and find me on yours"). Basically, he wants a girl more than anything, but he doesn't tell her. He's willing to do anything to get her, but he still doesn't do anything, he hopes that something will just end up happening. Great song. It's reading my feeling about a girl from my school like a book. |
