Bloody hell! This has been one of my favourite songs for ages and I have only just realised what it is about. Traumatizing! It's about HIV/Aids taking over! |

@ Jacobini The only thing I could think about was "E.T" and it almost seemed like some twisted parody of the movie (no idea how this ties in with the song's meaning) until the girl is dug out of the gigantic piece of chocolate... in short: I'm lost. -------------------------------- It's all about lives being dispensable in the material world. The motor car, alongside sex, gambling and materialism are all drugs, fixations, fetishes, like a big chocolate bar, which we will all eat until our death (the motor accident) Only we can stop this! Only we can stop being sheep to the slaughter! It is MGMT's "whistle" and we must stop listening to it and dancing to its tune! |

| MGMT – I Found a Whistle Lyrics | 14 years ago |

First came the Pied Piper, who whistled the first call Romero's Night of the Living Dead scored the fall You all saw Matrix, Island, Logan's Run and Brazil But you couldn't see the chains for the song and the thrill. And still after 15 centuries of dissolution and grief we eat, drink, f*** and sleep in their belief. They built two pillars, one black and one white they built a door in between, all gleaming and gold and we went dancing through it and were sold freedom, democracy, knowledge and sight and blindly paid for it all with our souls. I stood with the few for the weak and the young. But they took away my life and ripped out my tongue. 9/11, child abuse, God and fake wars, All painted with glamour, sex, goods and fashion stores Now they're online with their tyranny and crime Because they found a whistle that worked every time. |

Trouble it isn't the few is it? It's the many, the vast majority. It's all over the net. It pays Google, Facebook, Fox TV under the silvery, silvery citibank lights, while they count the beads from their pulpits of hypocrisy. It's 24/7, work and play compromised, no break for matters non-carnal. It's in the home; ageing mom, blooming daughter, distracted dad. It's the relationship-killer. Never finance, never no common interests, always unmagnificent sex! Always sexual! It's obsessive; everything that they ask you to. It's compulsive; you have to do it running. It's a disorder; the blindfolded man! George Romero predicted how big business, mass media would brainwash us all into the all-consuming living dead. Matt Berninger is just the reporter, presenting a not-too-exclusive from the unmagnificent lives of adults! There is no cure. Community is dying! Love is dying! So you get mistaken for strangers. You no longer know yourself. It's sexual O.C.D. and it's epidemic! ..... and it may be too late! |
