I think in this song, the singer loved a woman so completely but the love was not returned. Now, she's in love with someone and the singer is asking the new guy, "Can you love her as much as I did? Can you worship her with your body and soul?" Even to the point where he felt his love was so unselfish and pure that he could have knelt before God with it as being 'clean'. But it wasn't enough. She never felt the same and by the second verse he's starting to get angry. Why couldn't she love him? When he gave everything he was and had, why was he rejected? Why wasn't he enough? If you've ever loved someone who didn't love you back, you know that questioning feeling. The last verse, I think, he's telling the new guy, the girl, anyone who can make him understand why he wasn't enough for her, that he will follow them completely because he's so heartbroken right now and cannot comprehend it. That's my two cents anyway. |
