I agree with scappaflow. This is a song about a guy (a) who goes to bed with his partner (b) at night and she goes on and on about a girl she knows (c) girl (a) supposes that girl (c) is an innocent who has been wronged in some way by guy (d). (d) is probably (b)'s brother. As they are laid in bed (a) spouts theories to (b) as to what has happened between (c) and (d) and talks (b) into spending the following day chasing down answers to her theories. (b) confronts his brother (who is d, or who knows d) and (d) refutes the theories. In the end (b) is forced to tell (a) to STFU and go to sleep, saying that perhaps (b) is no innocent and can probably look after herself. |

If this is 'sit on your face' then I think this song is about a feminist girlfriend. I think the line 'who's going to sit on your face when I'm gone' is something that used to be said by feminists in the 80's. It's probably a direct quote from someone but I can't find a reference on the internet. I used to date a feminist girl in the 80's who once said this to me. The suffragette bit adds to that. |
