This song is about homosexuality. I think the person is coming out of the closet. If this were the 1950s, then I can see it being about interacial dating. But there is nothing "Unthinkable" about interacial dating in todays time. Homosexuality is today's socially "Unthinkable" offense. Look at the line "time is wasting why wait for eventually..." This line is saying "why wait until gay marriage is more socially accepted?" When they say "would this make us look crazy?" again, nothing crazy about a man being with a woman. Brilliant song. I am a strait guy & I see the beauty of this piece. I love songs that deal with social issues, but know how to hide it in the lyrics. If she wrote a song that was clearly about "coming out the closet". Many people would reject it just because they are homophobic. But this musical masterpiece "tricks" people into subconsciously accepting the issue. BRILLIANT!!! |
