This band had made the most beautiful songs that a human being is capable of. Both lyrics music inserted in a dreamlike atmosphere. Beyond perfection. 'And you can tell me About the useless sea On behalf of the widow Of a sailor soon to be free' This song is a dream scenario, obviously. The sea, this huge amount of water that separates continents, that can lead you far beyond home and can swallow you if it feels like. And us,men, want to explore what is beyond it, so we'll never be satisfied only by standing and watching its movement by the brink. At the same time we may have a sort of futility feeling about the sea, it can become useless as the song says, the widow lost her husband and provider ( we know water is life and it feed us ) and now the sea means nothing but a verge between the life she used to have and her lonesome life from now on. "Whenever she's alone That woman dares to keep Leaking boats built too low To move us in our sleep" 'And we can dance like diamond thieves at the fair And we can dance like open windows in the evening air' Water again, someone who consciously built boats and let them leak, soon will lead to drown as they sleep. Sunk in the waters as was Atlantis, sunk in dreams cause it's the only way to be free.. I can see a symbolic death, a permanent scape from everyday's anguish, a desire of giving up real life and be free to do whatever your will spurs. But Zeus sinks Atlantis everytme we wake up. A cruel way of punishment, isnt it? |
