hmm, interesting how everyone sees the line "what kind of labyrinth is this, that sends you laughing, without smiling?" to be laughing at an unfunny joke. i sort of thought it to be that this relationship is so stressed, and the other person is so focused on it being a perfect relationship, that they only go through the motions of being happy ("laughing"), and not actually enjoying their time together and feeling happy("without smiling"). |

i kind of think of it as "the howl of our first verse" actually being the first verse of the song, where he says "he's just a slutty little flirt and sister he's only gonna hurt you." so in the part of the song you're confused about, where someone is "asking why their kisses are sorrowful," keving (or georgie, rather?) is referring them back to that first verse as a reason for the sorrowful kisses. maybe? that's how i think of it, anyway. |

for the longest time this whole song sounded like complete gobbledygook. just looking at it now i randomly thought, maybe it's about him, and possibly someone else, dying? "happier to see it's gone" as in their life..."floating above your house" like a ghost would..."pair of brown eyed ghosts" could be him and whoever he's with, "tapping the shadows out" of them could be their uncertainties from their life or something..."clouds can't stay where they are born, winds push them so far from home" might refer to having to move on to the afterlife. or, i could be completely wrong about all of it. |
