I think this song is about Julian becoming a father. The two lines "One gives life, and one makes you kill." reflects that beautifully since he's always been in the spotlight and can basically be with any girl he wants but when he finally settled down with one woman and then became a father, he saw how beautiful and rewarding love can really be when he finally got to hold that child in his hands. Anywho, that's just my two cents. |

She moved to London. Met a guy there but somehow things don't seem to work because the reason the guy proposes being that they're two different people. He feels he's taking a risk to be with her (since she's not typical/american) so she gets that awful feeling of wanting to be with him so bad. Regardless of the differences she knows she's the one for him but it hurts that he can not put their differences aside to start a life together. |

I think this song reflects on our current generation. We see these kids are growing up getting involved in things we never expected. They're all over the place. They're angry and they have all the right to be. They've had enough and it's their turn to take control of what belongs to them and when Robert is ready to set foot onto his vengeance, there's no stopping him now. Our generation is the generation of parents working late or even worse, a single-parent family. It's all in the mix of why they're angry and so they're acting out. The world will eventually get better when these kids finally feel they're in control. |

Coming directly from Mark Foster.
'Pumped Up Kicks' is about a kid that basically is losing his mind and is plotting revenge. He's an outcast. I feel like the youth in our culture are becoming more and more isolated. It's kind of an epidemic. Instead of writing about victims and some tragedy, I wanted to get into the killer's mind, like Truman Capote did in 'In Cold Blood.' I love to write about characters. That's my style. I really like to get inside the heads of other people and try to walk in their shoes.

He gave everything to find true love but failed every single time. He decided it's time to pack and leave because no one here wants to truly love him.
