I wonder if this has to do with questioning religion? "so we pray heaven waits for us, but the wolves howl to the moon and she never answers back?" |

I love the vulnerability that this song evokes, the feeling of no longer speaking to someone that you love and used to share everything with. "we don't have to do this, we don't have to act like friends" |

This song is so beautiful to me, it signifies the beginning of a relationship and beginning to truly get to know someone beyond the basics. Her voice is so tranquil and beautiful. |

I see this more as having a great friendship and believing that therefore it would evolve into a great relationship, but the romance didn't workout like the friendship did |

He paints such a beautiful picture with the first stanza, it makes my heart ache. Why must all good things come to an end? :/ |

I agree that she wrote this about God, she is obviously asking Him to save her and talking about her mistakes until He came. I feel like this could still be addressed to her daughter, or she could just be explaining the origin of that name.
Beautiful, peaceful, redeeming song. |

This is tainted by personal experience, but I don't necessarily think that this is about an abusive relationship per say, especially the "I won't let you close enough to hurt me" bit. I think its about a guy that she really liked, but he was playing games with her, hes "turning table" and she feels desperate for his love/attention. She wont let him hurt her, so she's saying goodbye to his "turning tables," and next time she'll be "my own savior" and won't cling to a guy for love/affection.
Again, very tainted by my own life situation, but what I see

My last boyfriend and I loved this song, listened to it all the time. I didn't realize it until almost a year after we broke up that it applied to our situation.
"How the time passed away, all the trouble that we gave, and all those days we spent out by the lake. Has it all gone to waste, all the promises we made? One by one they vanish just the same"
Basically how time has taken our relationship and all our promises away, but the memories made and what we learned made it worth it. "It was worth it in the end"
I think of it as reflecting back on memories and realizing that you've grown and gained maturity about the situation and it was worth it in the end. |

I think this song is expressing what she wants in a prospective partner. Just that she would always be "good" even when she has problems and weaknesses, and that she can rely on that person truly. |

Perfectly describes my first long relationship- "i was 20 and she was 18, just about as wild as we were green in the ways of the world", having a relationship based on first love and sex, based on the summer and being free, being young and stupid and not yet grown up. "It was all make believe in the end
No I cant say where she is today
I cant remember who I was back then" This is us now. Crazy. I had heard this song before but never had it pertained to me, but we were those same ages. Made me cry |

To me, this song is reminiscent of moving out on your own for the first time, or just growing up or having your heart broken for the first time. It's hard, and you make some mistakes, "Sometimes you gotta win until you lose". It reminds me of my first year at college and all the mistakes I made and how much I grew up and learned to be independent and figure things out on my own,not with a boy, and made me realize that its always going to be okay.
Beautiful song. I think any girl can relate to the feeling of being lost in the world and having to figure things out on your own. |

I don't think its a marriage proposal. "just for the touch of your warm skin"- he just wants to be close to her, be in a relationship with her, have her hand to hold.
I could be wrong, but that's what I get. Lovely song. |

I think everyone can relate to this... we all change, and sometimes we miss the person we used to be or need the strength we used to have. Its like having it all can make things easier but you can miss the strong person you were when you had to work harder at everything. |
