when i heard this song the first time, i thought it was about someone who's about commit suicide. the person has been through a lot, then he/she finds rationale in death, smokes a last cigarette etc. maybe i was biased to thinking like this as a personal inclination. but a user named @hishamassi interpreted this song as being about someone who has cancer and that made me think a bit. it could be about watching someone die, and you have nothing to do to change the situation. whatever chris intended to say with this song, even if it's the ugliest thing in the universe, it's beautiful. |
