| Pink Floyd – Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 1 Lyrics | 15 years ago |

You are so close to being correct and the only person who has even gotten close. Daddy went across the ocean to war and dies and leaves him just a memory. I don't think many people know what the wall is? Who decides who goes and dies in war? Powerful money interests that control all of our lives and decides who lives and dies. This had a profound effect on him and those powerful interests are the wall and the bricks in the wall are the brainwashed clogs in the machinery that keep us all in line. Those people are bricks in the wall. So for me, the social control machinery that continually program little boys to grow up to go die for some vain cause is the Wall. |

| Pink Floyd – Comfortably Numb Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| The Song is About Drug Use, not Heroine, but Cocaine, injected. When one injects cocaine, one has these experiences. You cannot hear people talking because your ears are ringing so hard. This in not meant to accuse any band members, they could have read about the experience, but it is about cocaine injection, and possibly speed balling by mixing it with heroin. | |
| Jay-Z – Young Forever Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I don't think he is talking about a guy selling crack now, I think he is speaking of where he came from, a young crack dealer and where he arrived. He wants to be an inspiration to those who feel trapped by their circumstances | |

Let us dance in style let us dance for a while Heaven can wait, we are only watching the sky Hoping for the best but expecting the worst, are you gonna drop the bomb or not? Let us die young or let us live for ever we don't have the power but we never say never setting in a sand pit life is a short trip the music for the sad man These words begin this song and set the tone and the meaning of the entire song. The song is about capturing the essence of youth and what youth means. Those who are forever young, like jay z claims have lived life to the fullest without regret. He will die someday, but his legacy will never die, and therefore when the director yells cut, he will be fine. But what he is saying is more to the youth of the ghettos who may feel trapped by their circumstances. Life is short so grab it and take control. I think Jay z wants people to be able to strike a balance between enjoying today and preparing a legacy for tomorrow, which he feels like he has done. Some have commented that is may be about dying young. Life in the ghetto is hard and many young black men die young, so he may be have thought in the past that he would die young, and thus reflected upon his life in pictures in order to maintain those memories. When my Mother was in her thirties, she use to say to me that she didn't want to live to be real old. She wanted to die before she reached her old age. She passed away at 51 of cancer, and when I hear his song I think of her. I think that she no longer wanted to live when she could not live and experience everything life had to offer and participate fully in the beauty of life and youth. So let us die young or let us live forever. The essence of youth is what he speaks of, and balancing passion for the here today, and the legacy of tomorrow that you will leave behind. That is what he believes make you forever young. |

This is Jay z lashing out at the new would be rappers that are trying to follow in his footsteps. He is basically raising the bar and demanding that those who follow him try to keep his high quality even though he boasts they will try in vain to imitate him. He compares himself to Jordan, as if he is the Jordan of Rap. He can leave and make a comeback just like Jordan did if he so choses. I think the only reason he would want to go into early retirement would be to go out on top, in other words, his status is at an all time high, leave them wanting more. But if he comes back, he is not playing games, it will be with a vengence, and thus to destroy any rapppers that may have tried in vain to feel his shoes. |

| Led Zeppelin – Stairway to Heaven Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This is a grand social indictment against humanity ever becoming vain and emotionally shallow. The lady who is sure all that glitters is gold is the United States and all of its greedy materialistic people who don't seem to notice that their way of life contradicts their religious doctrine. However it doesn't have a consistent storyline, as many band members contributed lyrics. I think there is a general abstract theme that speaks against a shallow materialistic world view. Keep in mind that the band is British and may not necessarily embrace our way of life as correct and morally responsible. | |
| Don Henley – The End of the Innocence Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This song is about Oliver North lying under oath to protect Ronald Reagan. Lawyers clean up all details since daddy had to lie, this is about what this song is about. Losing virginity is symbolic for losing innocence and belief in America and our way of life as superior and always right. I have seen Don Henley interviewed, i know his politics, he was a staunch supporter of the Sandanistas in Nicaragua. So therefore, he wrote several songs that reflected his detest of the Reagan Administration. He believed that he committed high treason. To realize that your President would be capable of such a thing is the end of the innocence for him. | |

This song is about Jay z's experience as a drug dealer in his youth. Apparently he had made it up in status to the point that he could front drugs to lower level runners. He wants us to know that he has not forgotten where he came from despite all of his fame. He remembers the hard times, even while he negotiates his contract record deals. I would have to know Jay z's feelings about raps early days. I think maybe he feels like the early pioneers where not given a fair shake by the early record labels. Secondly, he could be making an even grander political statement when he says "pay us like you owe us for all the years that you owe us" he could be talking about slavery and slavery reparations in the same way a country would pay war reparations. That was a controversial topic that came up during the time he wrote that song. |
