Alexz Johnson – Look At Those Eyes Lyrics 14 years ago
Song Meaning: I feel it's about not being alone in the world, in everything you go through, especially when going through tough times. Learning to let go and move on, not hold a grudge and eventually if you persevere, you'll make it through the dark.

Alexz's lyrics are very very strong and sometimes brutally honest. Her voice emphasizes the song's emotional context and the tone is exactly as it needs to be to convey the theme.

Blues Traveler – The Mountains Win Again Lyrics 15 years ago
If I remember correctly this was written by the late great Bobby Sheehan. A fabulous song writer that i think overall that only got credit in the genre and within the band.

This song as a whole I actually think is about not giving up. Love comes and goes, with everything there is pain... accept this and you will be okay. It's okay to be in pain, it's okay to mourn, it's okay to cry.

For me the mountains are those that say you are not to do this or that, you need to be strong in a time of mourning. You need to be a "man" So "Feel the Rain coming in, the mountains win again" might be a metaphor for holding in your feelings, the mountains bottle up your emotions in and when they do, they've won.

At least that's best explanation I can think of at the moment.

Probably the most powerful underrated songs ever.

RIP Bobby!!

Florence + the Machine – Dog Days Are Over Lyrics 15 years ago
With majority of songs, they are open to ones interpretation, therefore unless the artist/writer, etc. says specifically themselves that the song is about... this or that, then no one is "wrong"

What's interesting to me is if a someone doesn't like a song that someone else likes, it becomes a argument of "How can you not like that song?" or even worse - You have no idea what you're talking about, you don't know music, etc. What annoys me about this is that I have friends that are like this, and they are the same friends that say "To each their own, and you shouldn't judge" of course when I point out that they themselves are judging (and not that it's wrong) they tend to get defensive and say "no, I just know music better than so and so"

really? Not liking a song means a person doesn't know music?

Anyway just thought I'd bring that to light. Opinions can't be wrong, they can be thought to be wrong by others that do not share the same opinion. Of course the same goes for opinions being right.

I like this song, it's not my all time favorite, but neither is Florence and the Machine. As for what it's about? For me it's about moving on, not regretting your past, in this sense previous loves and loved ones.

"Leave all your loving, your loving behind
You cant carry it with you if you want to survive"

Love is not happiness, Happiness is accepting and at times letting go. It's everything and nothing, possibly at the same moment in time.
