| I think a main point is that if you forgive yourself, you should forgive everyone else too, even a murderer! There are children starving to death everyday so if you buy a pizza, or a computer or whatever for yourself that means you rather spend money on needless things for yourself than save people for that money. So if you want to judge John Wayne for being an asshole you also should judge yourself for being an asshole, which is pretty much what sufjan is doing when hi's saying: "I'm just like him".. | |

The video to this song is by far the best one I've ever seen. In the video there's a boy and a girl who is in love - or at least interested in each other. And the things (the flying cubes) in the sky are the reason the boy and the girl ends up holding hands. So the part where: "It's coming, it's coming on! It's coming from the sky. It's coming from the wind" is sung, I guess is a thing that helps people become happy/dare to hold hands/love or something that's good.. So this part of the song is the hopeful part and the answer to the darkness in the first part of the song. Like: "Soft soft or cruel, Can't we change our minds?" "Secrets from the winds, Burnt stars crying" indicate that there's something mystic who's sad that we can't be happy/do what's right. And I would like to see th tis small love-story as a symbol for the whole human race; so the mystic cubs (in the video) is helping and saving us. And m83 wont tell us what they believe it's because when they sing: "What's coming now?" He just answer: "It's coming from the sky, It's coming from the wind". So I would say the song is about a faith that can't be explained. This analyse could be just utterly shit, but I hope someone can get something from it:P |
