| The Offspring – Fix You Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
I mean, I agree with the interpretations here, but I've always hated this song, for one simple reason, this line: I wish I could fix you and make you how I want you It sounds really selfish, and that's not what love is. Furthermore, the "And I wish you could fix/heal me" part just sounds apologetic, as if trying to make up for the beggining of the chorus sounding so selfish. |

Why would this song have to be about drinking? Here's my interpretation: "Give me a second I, I need to get my story straight" - He needs to explain his story "My friends are in the bathroom getting higher than the Empire State" - He went out with his friends, and they are now getting high in the bathroom or something "My lover she's waiting for me just across the bar" - His ex is at the bar, still waiting for him, although he did something terrible, and they broke up "My seat's been taken by some sunglasses asking about a scar, and" - A guy is sitting next to her, wondering why is she drinking, and trying to hit on her "I know I gave it to you months ago I know you're trying to forget" - He did something months ago, and they broke up and she is now trying to forget "But between the drinks and settle things The holes in my apologies, you know I'm trying hard to take it back" - He is desperate to make up with her "So if by the time the bar closes And you feel like falling down, I'll carry you home" - If she feels like taking a chance with him again, he will "carry her home", meaning he is there for her "Tonight, we are young So let's set the world on fire We can burn brighter than the sun" - Together they are strong, and they "can burn brighter than the sun" "Now I know that I'm not All that you got" - She's not crazy about him "I guess that I, I just thought Maybe we could find new ways to fall apart" - He thought maybe they could fall one more time, maybe she could take a chance again "But our friends are back So let's raise a cup" - I'm not sure about this one "Cause I found someone to carry me home" - She probably forgave him and she is now there for him "The world is on my side I have no reason to run So will someone come and carry me home tonight The angels never arrived But I can hear the choir So will someone come and carry me home" - I'm not sure about this one either There, you see? Just because there is a more obvious meaning, doesn't mean it has to be the right one. |

| That's not a slightest bit objective | |
| Howie Day – Collide Lyrics | 13 years ago |
|
I know this is old, but still. "Even the best fall down sometimes Even the wrong words seem to rhyme Out of the doubt that fills your mind You finally find, you and I collide" That last chorus explains that they changed roles, and that he is the one who believes in them, and she is the one who is madly in love and doubts their relationship, much like him at the start of the song. |

| The Offspring – Walla Walla Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Goodbye, my friend, you messed up again You're going to prison, you're off to the pen You've gotten off easy so many times But I guess no one told you how to get a life The judge wasn't lenient like he was before You got three to five and a kick out the door The public defender really did try Too little, too late, you didn't get a life Hey, in Walla I'll see you in Walla Walla Slap on the wrist? Well, not this time Hey, in Walla I'll see you in Walla Walla Folsom prison is the destination Hey, in Walla I'll see you in Walla Walla Slap on the wrist? Well, not this time In the scheme of life, we're all just brothers Rehabilitate with all the others Well, I'll see ya That car looked so tempting, so easy to drive Just like that apartment that you burglarized You started to run, but didn't get far Cause under your arm was a VCR Ho ho, not this time my friend You'll be in lockdown by ten I'm afraid you can't talk your way out of this one, son Now four walls are your 24-hour-a-day, constant companions. Hey, in Walla I'll see you in Walla Walla Slap on the wrist? Well, not this time Hey, in Walla I'll see you in Walla Walla Folsom prison is the destination Hey, in Walla I'll see you in Walla Walla Slap on the wrist? Well, not this time In the scheme of life, we're all just brothers Rehabilitate with all the others Well, I'll see ya Have a nice life |
