Maybe not depression but something along those lines yeah. Something is deffinately eating him on the inside. Insanity is a possibility, he seems to see this thing thats against him as something sitting across his "cell", in his mind, a foreign entity. It sees right though him and is overpowering, at the end of the song it finally wins, as his soul; what is left of his former self, is consumed. Similar things can most definately be said about depression though so yeah, can go either way... One thing for sure, its totally badass. *prays* be at DOWNLOAD next year! |

Definately a top tier slow song by InMe. One of my personal favourite of the melancholy songs... Although there are a lot of them... This is certainly about depression, faking everything for the people around you to apease them when inside you feel nothing. The "I've been looking out my window" line is a great example of how the grey inside you eats at you and leaves you lifeless and feeling like nothing matters. Watching paint dry can be fun when you feel like this, why not? There isn't anything better to do. There is a sad solace about it. The song is aappropriately named as a metaphor for the ummm... narrator? - as they are drifting forward as the vehicle, stumbling over any hardships, semi-obliviously like a "moth to a lantern". I suppose there is a gleam of hope, i mean, he is looking to "reignite" his engine. Anyway, sorry for waffling, haha, great song though, i seem to have forgotten to mention that.... If you ask me, this is the best of their 'non' melancholic sounding somgs. As you guys are saying, epic badass riff. There is definately an element of "shove it in your face!" involved. I like the guts. Brilliant. |

There seems to be some element of self-hatred within this song. The chorus to me is a breaking point from the calm 'twilight' of the verses. As i stated, with hot lava as the chorus' and cold twilight for the verse parts there is a dramatic contrast. Reminds me of ice cream and hot chocolate brownies.... mmm... But yeah, it builds up to anger, an explosion. |

This song is both beautiful and haunting. I cant relate or anything but i truly feel the emotion. Haha, is melancholy a good thing to feel? I wish i could experience aspects of this song though, namely; "You amaze me more than you could know, and i need you all the time" Love is or was present at some time during this creation. Masterful. |

This is probably my favourite track of off ABIII and it seems to me to be to be a deepy emotional song. Two things occur to me when listening to this and i belive it is either him singing about himself while looking in from the point of view of someone close to him or him singing about a special someone he has lost or is angry at. I do not know however if he is singing as himslf, Myles, or if he is singing as a character with these emotions in the song.
Heh, this is probably way off the mark and im reading into things but this is how i interpret this song. I recommend you to listen to this song if you are an Alter Bridge fan. 10/10. |
