The Killers – Sam's Town (Abbey Road Version) Lyrics 13 years ago
Am I the only one who thought the abbey road version was a reference to the beatles?

while it has nothing to do with abbey road itself, revolution and revolution 1 mirror this song almost exactly, with the slowed down, more emotional reworking of the song with (nearly) identical lyrics

Death Cab for Cutie – Transatlanticism Lyrics 13 years ago
"The Atlantic was born today, and I'll tell you how
The clouds above opened up and let it out

And thousands upon thousands made an ocean"
does anyone else feel this was a metaphor for crying?

basically, hes saying he cried enough to fill the atlantic, since he finally let it all out, and thousands upon thousands of tears made an ocean

Ladytron – Seventeen Lyrics 13 years ago
I think its less about modeling, and more about men themselves. At 17, you arent legally allowed to do anything, and at 21, youre an adult and can practically do anything. Basically, they want jailbait, the excitement of getting away with things, and dont want someone who can just do whatever

The Killers – Mr. Brightside Lyrics 13 years ago
I believe the Mr Brightside is in reference to how he tried to pretend this wasnt happening, or was "looking at the bright side." and then hes saying how this is the price he pays for being so foolishly optimistic and not stopping it sooner, and he finally opens his eyes and accepts his destiny

so basically "Mr Brightside" as a name is him being in denial

Mr. Bungle – My Ass Is On Fire Lyrics 14 years ago
really? no one was reminded by

"It's not funny, my ass is on fire
Paraplegic, inhuman liar"

of the childhood rhyme, "Liar, liar, pants on fire"?

not sure what most of the songs about, but the narrator is definitely lying about something, and

"Carve a smile
On your face
Everything's great
Suffocate"

sounds to me like hes lying about his state of mind, making it look like hes happy

The Beatles – Glass Onion Lyrics 15 years ago
First off, I'll start with the Glass Onion bit...according to Wikipedia, glass onion is slang in Britain for a monocle, which make sense in context to me. They're referencing all of these drug related or induced songs, and talk of the "other half". With the imagery of the monocle, it sounds to me like they're lamenting about the more prim and proper people. The song mentions strawberry fields, which is referencing the drugs, and they say there's another place you can go. It then mentions Lady Madonna, which obviously relates to making ends meet, just like one has to when you poor all your money into these drugs, which the "other side" does not have the problem of. They then say how the fool on the hill is in his same old rut, and cannot break his habit, but that he could be fixing a hole in the ocean. The ocean is huge, and from "fixing a hole" the problem has gone from rain coming in to the whole ocean.

Basically they're wishing they could live a better life, like the other half they see doing so.

The whole Paul thing however, stems all the way back to "The Walrus and the Carpenter." In interviews and such, John has said that when he first read the story, he thought that the Walrus was good (or at the very least, the lesser of two evils), and that the Carpenter was the villain. He was very saddened to find out it was the other way around. In this, he is simply correcting it, saying Paul was the bad guy, as he believes he is the "Carpenter" in this.
