Jody was the first to bring in strings for his song. Then Alex liked it so much he decided to use them on more songs for Third. I think Jody should havwe written some more songs. The simple lyrics express the affection couples share that is rarely present in other songs. Like the way my wife has my favorite food and snacks waiting for me after I've been on the road along time. The strings come in at the perfect time at the high point of "warmed by you". It predates many rock songs that use a similar effect. |

This is his song that I take most personally. In Hollywood Ca, late 1980's I was a club hopper who had a courier job. Well I was partying too much and crashed my car. I lost my job, girlfriend ,place to live and my car all within 2 weeks. when I wasn't sleeping outside I was sleeping at peoples homes for a night or two that I knew or recently met at clubs. I was lonely , confused and most of the time strung out of my mind. as I look back I see myself stumbling around Insomnia (underground club with punch bowl spiked with ecstasy) looking for someone to take me home. Needless to say I cried the first time I heard this song. Don't you wish you could go back in time and have a good talk with your stupid young self. Of course I would have slapped the he'll out of me first.
