I'm sure the song is basically about what CrabSandWich said, but for the verse after the first chorus that says "Blue is the day if we black this night", I'm almost positive it's: "Who gives a damn if we Throw the dice Well, love is much more Than good and bad". I also think the beginning says "Tell me if it's right if we tried it halfway". Except tried it halfway doesn't sound right at all. Awesome band, though.(: |

i think it's that she is imagining what could have happened if he had called her back, up to a point, but she's saying that he didn't, so she's bitter, and she's saying that she's pissed at the blond girl, that she'll kill her, that she's dumb, etc. or it could just be the fact that she's trying to show how most girls act when they get dumped for someone else. that's what i get. |

i don't really know what this song means, but i have an image of people i know when i hear the lyrics. it reminds me of people i know who party all the time and drink or do drugs. in this song, though, i feel like it leans more towards alcohol. when she says "coming down" it reminds me of coming down off of drugs or alcohol. if she was an alcoholic, she would definitely have the "i take as much as i can get, i don't take any regret" mentality. when she says "i close my eyes to conjure up something", i see it as vomiting from having too much to drink. when she says "by tomorrow i'll be leaving, by tomorrow i'll be gone/ if you want to tell me something, you had better make it strong" reminds me of someone who goes out drinking or partying, and doesn't have much care for anything else. when she says "you had better make it strong", i thought about a strong drink right away. she says "you abuse the ones who love you, you abuse the ones who won't" and i think of people who abuse substances as hurting everyone since they only care about getting what they want. i'm not sure about the "if you ever had a real heart, i don't think you'd know where to start" bit. i don't know if i'm taking the song too literally, but that's my opinion on it for now. |

first of all, i think linaem is correct in the terms of song interpretation. i also think that, along with the fact that this may be a friend who they love, i think that they aren't even really friends, because he says that they'll be laughing in five years about how they used to smoke cigarettes and drink wine because that's what they needed to have a good time. i'm pretty sure a real friend would be able to get along with someone without drinking and smoking. second, the lyrics are basically right, but are a little off. this is how i think they sound, at least. wow, i'm surprised that i'm the first to say something about this song. "I will admit I am embarrassed by your grace And the complete look of boredom upon your face You want to be a million miles from this place You want to get on with my untimely disgrace." the guy, let's call him rico, is with someone who doesn't really hide the fact that they aren't really entertained. it makes him feel terrible, naturally. "I am alone I am in love with an idea Sophisticated Neurological appeals I want to negotiate some kind of a deal I want to tear it open show you that it's real" he feels alone, even though he's with that person (in a relationship, i guess). he has an ideal picture of love, but the person he's with doesn't want to share the same thing with him, for whatever reason. "Oh the things I will believe Ignore the hundred lovers You got hidden up your sleeve. The words come easily And they sound so lovely I guess it's just as easy if you lie to me." rico likes this person, even though he knows they aren't faithful and just says whatever rico wants to hear. "Everybody they got all kinds of advice They want to tell you just how you should live your life. But who exactly am I supposed to believe? Am I supposed to let you walk away from me?" everyone is giving rico advice about what he should do about that person he cares for. it's not easy for him to choose who is right, most especially because he doesn't want to let go. "I know it's coming I can feel it in my bones This is information you already know Even if it's only temporarily Give the illusion tonight you belong to me" he knows that it isn't going to work out and they're going to leave sometime or another, but he's kind of in denial. he feels, at least in this part, that ignorance is bliss, and he wants to hang onto what he has even for a little bit. that's just my take on it. it's kind of funny how much it applies to my life right now. |

"i was countin' my sheep" may not be right, but it at least sounds more correct than "i was carrying my cheek". it sounds kinda like "i was countin' my cheap", but it's probably not right. the second line also doesn't sound right. it sounds kinda like "the sun made stripes of shade". i know for sure, though, that the words in one part are: "It's a slippery slope Like that mouse trap game Inside my tunnel vision You stepped on my train" |
