I love this song so much! The message and mood are amazing! Basically: Let your passion manifest in the world, and don't wait until it's too late. |

I actually like that idea! I mean, I doubt that was what the author was thinking about when he wrote the lyrics, but I think it's the same mood. The awesome thing about songs like this is that they are so deep, and it's easy to interpret it any way you want/need to. This song goes beyond the words and the sounds...That's real art. |

I think I finally figured this song out! I think it's a combination between following your dreams and looking beyond the exterior, especially in people, because you could talk to someone every day for twenty years and still not know what their goals in life are, how they think, or who they really are. Sometimes it's hard to look past those things, like appearance, "is this all we get to be absolute?" I especially love the part: "Quiet but i'm sure there is something here. tell me everything cause I want to hear." I take that to mean that to really understand anything, you have to look beyond words and descriptions, labels and expectations. Just because someone won't talk to you doesn't mean they have nothing to say or share with you. I think it also refers to the importance of listening to other people in relationships, and supporting them in their ambitions. In the beginning of the song, he's talking about two people who could really be perfect for eachother, but they break up because they never really understood one another. "If she could see inside"..."she waits to tell him who she is".... "It's a kiss sits upon on her lips that waits for planes and battle ships She wants to be a dancer and he has got a picture On his wall and it's a sailor in a new port every night" I take this to mean that the girl understands and appreciates the ambition to be in the navy (or whatever...) and that the guy understands and appreciates the arts, so they could be perfect for eachother.... "Yet man was born to trouble like sparks fly upwards innocent" But it's human nature to not look past the obvious, so these two potential soul-mates may never understand just how perfect they are together. "All we are and all we want 40 years come and gone" Pretty simply the importance of following your dreams, And my other favorite line: "All we are in photographs Will never be taken" By which i think he means that who you really are is never going to be captured in a photograph; the only way your true potential and greatness can be known is if you act on it. I love the ideas behind this song....even if it's only my interpretation. |

This could be interpreted in a lot of ways...but I think it's about a guy breaking up with a girl who doesn't have any aspirations. "You try out for nothing then you drop dead" The line "die and succeed" makes sense to me in the context...that it you have no goals, and you just complain about how bitterly unfair your life is, you might as well die, and that's your success. I like the coma theory, though...haha |
