To me, this song is about taking the time to reflect. As adults we become caught up in our obligations and activities and have precious little time to be with ourselves. "Got no time, Got no mind, For the line in this life" is about not having or taking time to see the big picture of our lives. The only time we slip into our "blue mind" is when we are asleep and our imagination is free to roam. But time is short and "turning to sand". This song suggests we "go free of time", don't live in the past or the future but in the present moment. The present is free of time because we cannot really measure it. We knew how to do this when we were children. We lived and reflected and imagined in the present moment. Do you remember being able to do that? Do you remember how life seemed to hold infinite meaning and depth? We can do that again if we try, but it's hard to let go sometimes. If we can experience the present moment in a fuller way, we will see more clearly where we have been and where we are going. Great song. |
