| Taylor Swift – Long Live Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| I always saw this song as a continuation of change...sort of, the aftermath. In change, she describes their battle, and ends with the walls finally crashing down. In Long Live, she celebrates the fall of the walls... | |
| Lights – My Boots Lyrics | 15 years ago |

Like most of Lights' songs, My Boots is so cryptic and abstract in its lyrics...but in my opinion, the song is about a girl (the singer) who is constantly relying on her best friend, or her "boots", whenever she goes through a break-up. Using seasonal references to point out her relationship states, "winter" for post break-up, and "summer" for the time when she's happily got a boyfriend. "You might know if you're from around here, what goes on for half of the year." She's saying that the relationship cycle is continuous, and everybody knows it. "Winter left a cover that I'm gonna end up under, but I've got my boots." Every time her boyfriend breaks up with her, she's a mess, but her friend is always there to help her out. "She gets me to come out of hiding and find something decent to wear," describes how efficiently her friend fixes her up every time. "When I'm in the summer, I forget how much I love her," says that whenever she's not going through break-up problems, she takes her friend for granted, but whenever winter comes, her friend is always there. Or, this song could be literally interpreted as a seasonal song. I think the whole song is metaphorical, though. |
