The promise we made to kill the days between - to me that sounds like my marriage. Our promise - till death does us part. The days between our marriage and our death.
But the promises were hollow and after so long of not being shown love, your heart becomes numb. Like a sleeping limb - hence the pins and needles feeling.
I could go on about this speaks to me, how it resonates with the emotional and physical abuse she subjected me to. But obviously that's just my interpretation and how the lyrics speak to me.
The fact that this song blends seamlessly into Two Hearts, which feels like a continuation of this, where two hearts beat together, one beats the other while the other looks away, trying to ignore the abuse... well, that just clinches the meaning of these two songs for me. |

It\'s "promised wedding now a wake" not "awake" - as in a wake that proceeds a funeral. Awake doesn\'t even make sense in the context of the lyrics but "a wake" does. |

Someone told me this song made her think of us. We were probably perfect for each other, maybe even meant to be, if anything can ever be. But I couldn't or wouldn't let myself fully commit to it. Eventually, it was too late. We still love each other, but... |

To me it reads like a failed marriage or long term relationship. Hiding inside a perfect life, feeling like your all alone, waiting for them to return to your side? I can't be the only one who's felt that. Obviously this can be interpreted a lot of ways but that's the feelings this song evokes for me. |
