That's a very nice, and plausible, interpretation. There seem to be a few variations on the last verses: 'onder die brug', 'op de brug', etc... and 'je bent m'n liefje' sometimes just stays 'je bent m'n zusje'. I believe your interpretation to be correct though. 'Brug' (bridge) may accentuate a transition fase in their lives, or simply a connection point for the two. 'Schipperskind' probably accentuates the volatility of childrens' relationships, as a skipper's child is often on the move. |
