It should be noted that this song correlates closely to the Beatles' "For No One". Aside from the obvious, albeit perhaps coincidental correspondence in song titles, the subject matter is similar in both songs: love lost, regret, reminiscing, and an impetus to move on. If intentional, Miike Snow's would be a brilliant homage to the Beatles song. Moreover, it enhances and extrapolates: where "For No One" ends on melancholic, tragic, even hopeless overtones, this song carries more hope both in its tonic qualities and in its lyrics. Overall, clever, cryptic, catchy, and cathartic songwriting. |
