We all bring our own subconscious out in our interpretation of songs. When I listen to this song I hear someone so obsessively in love (borderline idolization) that they see themselves as completely inadequate, paling in comparison to their love. The feeling of inadequacy is so strong they're convinced that their lover is better off without them. |

Zell I like that theory a lot. My only argument is that it's almost everything in it is a common theme with Streetlight, so it's not so much a deliberate continuation as it is just very similar in its topic. I never realized the "thats just the way that it goes" connection the two songs have though. That's clearly deliberate, and very interesting. |

I also think it's at least partially about drugs, but more specifically coming clean. I think it's about the subject's personal quest to get clean, and to do it on his own. I agree he does seem to be talking about the place where he used to live, but rather than nostalgic he sounds to me like he's more disillusioned with it. He's running from it all, that's his road. |
