| Gotta love the contrast between the catchy melody and the heartbreaking slide into addiction and dysfunction. | |

Hmm interesting song. Anybody ever heard of Freud's theory of Repetition Compulsion. Basically, it's what may cause a person to make the same mistakes over and over again. Sort of a long shot, but it may be related. |

"Now I'm waking up with an empty hand Trying to buy something to take me away" I think Geoff might be singing about how people indulge themselves in material things to distract them from emotional pain of feeling alone, to "take [them] away" from the hurt. These could be harmless things like clothes or fast food, or they could be more dangerous things like alcohol, or drugs (prescription or street). Very powerful song regardless of whether I'm right or wrong. |

| Buck 65 – Exes Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think this song is about being in a relationship with a troubled person, and getting to a point of wondering why they would be attracted to and enter a relationship with that troubled person. A good question to ask, but a lot of people will spend their time pointing fingers and blaming without considering their own role in the dysfunction. | |
