| I think this song is about a girl who holds deep affections for a boy very much, but the boy doesn't feel the same way about her. She tries to do everything to try to please him, to try and get him to feel the same way. But the boy isn't innocent at all. The girl likes him so much that she finds out all the things he likes and tries to please him, hence, "steps to your door". HE knows exactly how she feels for him, and yet, he plays with her, and gives her ideas that they could truly be together. So as he leads her on, she falls more and more in love with him, but when she realises what he was doing all along, she becomes miserable. It could have gone two ways, either she says goodbye to him, or he leaves. Either way, the result becomes that she's not ready to let go, even thought she knows hes no good for her. So she keeps hoping that one day he'd be hers hence "come in with the rain". | |

When this heartbreaking song first entered my ears, i didn't know its relation to Kanye West, so i interpreted differently. I think everyone could agree that this song has described them one point in time. When they had done something wrong, made a mistake or caused someone to hurt. This song is giving the message that it's okay to make a mistake, and that who you are is not what you did wrong. And some points in the song remind us that when we were little, we had no regret and the only mistake we made minor errors. But by the time we grow up, the major erroneous events occur, and that's why she refers to the fact that at that time, we wish we could be little to not encounter those troubles. The song also gives reference to the fact that yes we made a mistake, but it's time to move on and start fresh. And that basically sums it up for me. In addition, i reckon it was a munificent idea for Taylor Swift to do this song as a "you're forgiven" song. |
