John Frusciante – Chances Lyrics 12 years ago
This is my favorite JF song, probably one of the most relevant song of our time. We are near the end of times "I feel the tightening of the dawn", to truly live is to live with the will to die. John has become aware of the true consciousness "i'm not me anymore", an ego death in a sense. "Are you everywhere" implies the awareness of a greater mind or soul that transcends the physical realm and that we are all one, what sets us apart is awareness versus ignorance. THIS IS the time to die for those who are aware, we are in the darkest age of ignorance, the kali yuga in Hinduism, the last phase of the cosmic cycle in the mayan calendar, the end times in Christianity. "Chances come and go", this dark age that is about to end is however the easiest one to reach enlightenment in and break free "cutting off of fate like a string" from the cyclic fate of life and rebirth. Figure out your spirituality before its too late, the end is near. Become who you really are: a part of God, and be free from the world.

John Frusciante – Going Inside Lyrics 13 years ago
This song is about him experiencing higher dimensions/beings from "going inside", he understands the idea of eternity/timelessness, and there will be a time when "time" will no longer be a boundary. "Figures of my past" refers to his spiritual experiences with voices in his head and spirits that influenced him greatly. Heroin is likely the gateway to the spiritual realm for him. One must realize inorder to seek higher dimensions, one must look inside rather than out. He knows all these "escapes" from reality and philosophical ideas won't get him anywhere in this life, but at the same time he sees lightly in this life, the importance of "driving out of focus" as the key to eternity while resisting to focus solely on earthly experiences.
