After actually seeing the lyrics this seems a little wrong but my interpretation when I first heard this song was as follows: uncle sandro is in whatever slang or language uncle Sam, metaphorically america as a whole. And he is a stupid man because most of the worlds opinion is that most Americans are ignorant. When diversified it partied with foreigners but instead of taking in the culture it came back more stupid than before. I think the climactic part with the girls chirping in the background is about Americans living out the American dream and trying to be good people but not knowing how. If they listen to Eugene, he can help them free their narrow minds.
That was my first take on it. May not be accurate but it was what I got from the song. |

It's in GTA4 too. Love running down pedestrians to tunes like this. Is that strange? Maybe there's a little buffalo bill in all of us... |

The first song I ever heard by Gogol Bordello. Afterward, I wouldn't shut up about them for a week. I let my friends listen to this and they called me crazy. They said ," the guy sounds like he just learned english." My friends are narrow minded. Anyway, great song, great band, vodka!

Makes me visualize Adolf Hitler in the bunker during the last few hours of the war. I don't know, just what it makes me think of. Amazing song. Amazing band. Vodka! |

Gogol Bordello! More immigrant madness. How can you not love them?
The songs obviously about how immigrants come to america facing more hardships and discrimination every new generation. But enough about politics. Let us break out the vodka and dance!

I love this song. I heard it on a commercial for Justified.
To me it's a song about courage and pride which would go with the album name ,"catching the tiger." Its a good song for transitional periods in life.
I hope the artist gets more popular in the future. Of course it's just their debut album so who knows. |
