i must say...since i first listened to this song once i finally got an ear for music..that there is only one explanation to this song...HEROIN...at this time..smack wood have been the most addictive drug there was...apart from maybe ganja..but green dont get a hold like brown does...most lines are so close to the reality of bein a heroin addict...and lets not forget..elton comes from england...and i come from scotland...on this island...we say that to inject heroin is to "shoot up" hence..the title being rocketman...coz wat does a rocket do? it shoots up into the air..this is an amazing song...he really was a talented musician..pity now adays all he wants to do is exploit his newly addopted son in pathetic magazines..but a supose he wasnt never really an artist...good on the piano though!! |

oh no im a rocket man to me sounds like he is a heroin addict,,,yuo know coz in the uk..we say that injecting heroin is to shoot up..like a rocket..you catch my drift |

I believe that perhaps this song is about the sun "Morning to wake you; it's all we got" means to me the sunrise "I'm coming up only to hold you under" means to me perhaps..rising to hold us under its life giving power..."I'm coming up only to show you wrong" to me means perhpas...all the bad antics carried out are mostly done at night no? in the day time all is bright and baddies are not seen as much...and of course "At every occasion I'll be ready for the funeral
