Honestly this song is about breaking up but there are some lines that make me wonder if it has a darker meaning. "But you my dear have been discovered a liar And I'm afraid that this is building up for far too long And this is not the time or place for us to speak like this" So they're arguing about something pretty big obviously, maybe she cheated or something of that nature and they're fighting in public or something. "So dry your hollow eyes and let's go down to the water Even though it's the last time Please let's not speak Don't breathe a word Even though it's the last time" Alright 'the water' might just be a place they had a date, like a picnic by the lake or something... but I cant help but think of drowning someone and leaving them there and behind, the last time you will ever see them. Its an 'out there' interpretation but I think it has merit, especially since at the end of the song there's also a fading beat that sounds like a heartbeat that stops at the end of the song which could support my thinking as well. |
