Im a teenage girl so I can relate to all of Taylor songs. But this song I can relate to the most right now. I think that it's about being with someone and putting in so much effort into the relationship but getting nothing in return. You wish he would say all the right things and he never does. And when she says "cold" i dont think she means mean, he just has no feeling and doesnt care. he "puts up walls and paints them all a shade of gray" as in he won't tell her how he feels about her and shows no emotion at all. My boyfreind never tells me how he feels about me which makes me feel like he doesnt really care, So i can relate to this song alot. |

In my opinion, I think the song is about a relationship that your still in but know that it is ending soon. You didn't want it to end up this way but you just know that it doesnt feel right. You keep holding on for no reason because it's so hard to let that person go. |
