| Miike Snow – Song for No One Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| I feel like this song is the artist reminiscing about his girlfriend who left him for a missionary who she found more exciting than he was. It's a song for no one because he's trying to move on i.e. she is no one to him now but she used to be someone important. | |

Can you lie next to her And give her your heart, your heart As well as your body The guy is questioning if he can give anyone more of himself than just his body (sex), he's wondering if he actually has the ability to love somebody. And can you lie next to her And confess your love, your love As well as your folly He's wondering if he can not only show the girl his love, but the parts of him that he knows aren't perfect as well. He probably has trust issues and obviously has trouble opening up to people but he really wants to open up to this girl who is tempting him to give all of himself. And can you kneel before the king And say I'm clean, I'm clean He's done something in the past that he isn't proud of and obviously still feels guilty about and I'm thinking that that guilt is somehow holding him back from really opening up in this relationship. [Chorus:] But tell me now, where was my fault In loving you with my whole heart But tell me now, where was my fault In loving you with my whole heart I'm guessing that the girl broke up with him, probably because he couldn't open up to her even though he tried. He just couldn't love her (or show that love) in a way that she could understand. And he's trying to figure out what he did wrong when all he did was love her with all that he had. But it wasn't enough and that confuses him because even now he still loves her. A white blank page and a swelling rage, rage You did not think when you sent me to the brink, the brink You desired my attention but denied my affections, my affections I think that this is when the writer was trying to sit down and write this song. He was trying to make sense of all of the things that he was feeling but when he sat down to write it down on 'a white blank page' all he felt was anger because I guess he realized that the girl didn't care enough about him to think about how her leaving would effect him. Here he realizes that the girl said that she wanted his love but she didn't really want the love that he had to give. Lead me to the truth and I will follow you with my whole life Lead me to the truth and I will follow you with my whole life But none of this matters because all he wants for her to do is tell him how she wants him to love her because he's still devoted to her. He wants to be what she wants him to be, no matter what that takes. The end awesome song :) |

I actually think that this song is about a guy who is in love with his best friend but he knows that she isn't in love with him and is probably with someone else "Would you ever dance with me like that?" I think that he also knows that the guy that she is with is cheating on her (and maybe has before) "He's patronized another But I think it's serious this time." he knows that telling her would only mess up their friendship. "I don't want you fading, acting like you hate me." And even though he knows this he still wants to tell her that he wants her "Fuck all the rest and forget the rules Like all the girls and boys in my school Questions for questions, I've got a question Would you ever dance with me like that?" But he doesn't want to hurt her so he just decides to pretend like he doesn't know and like he doesn't want to be with her in the end. "I said to this end Don't hurt your best friend Keep playing along again" That may be a stretch but thats what I've always gotten when I've listened to this song. Whatever it's about it's got a great beat and is one of my favorite songs by Neon Trees. :) |
