| The Band Perry – If I Die Young Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Having very carefully read your comment I want to add the following thougts. Please remember that it is possible to over'think' something and that your own'baggage/life expierence' can dramatically effect how you interpret something. First, this song starts out with "if": second it contains, if you watch the artists video very clear imagery from two artistic movements - the writings of Tennyeson and the painters called the PreRalphaelites. This is how the artist (the band perry)choose to illustrate their song. You have 'read' ALOT into this song that is NOT even implied. Read the poem by Tennyson and look at Pre Ralphaelite art. Or invest in a BA in the arts. | |

| You are totally on the money! the author was close friends with the artists who made up the Pre-Ralphaelite brotherhood and other artists who painted in the same style - 1850-1890. The images chosen for the video are taken from the artwork of Waterhouse, Hunt and others who painted and titled their painting after the parts of the poem itself. | |

As sad as young death is it is not always suicide( infact it is the miniority). The song starts out with the words "If I die young..". The video immediatly struck me and forced me to see if anyone else had figured it out-it's clearly is taken directly from the artistic movement of the Pre-Raphalites (1850-1890), members who painted and wrote in allegorical imagery. The author Tennyson ( he was close friends this group of painters)wrote a poem titled "The Lady of Shalott" and several famous paintings were made during this time period based on the poem. See: John William Waterhouse who did at least 3 famous paintings, William H Hunt and others as well. The happy ending is only more proof that this is not about suicide but a happy ending that contrasts the poems ending. |
