Kelly Osbourne – One Word Lyrics 8 months ago
I really don't care what this song is about. I just want to say it's a direct rip off of the synth-pop classic, "Fade To Grey", by Visage.
Listen! - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_Enkz4PJgQ

And according to wikipedia, Osbourne didn't even write the song, Linda Perry did...or stole it I should say.

@[ejownz6:50286],
Yes, thanks to the late great Mick Karn.

Visage – Mind of a Toy Lyrics 1 year ago
Self explanatory, Mind Of A Toy is a fantasy song about a discarded toy, no longer enjoyed by its child owner. I don't know which member of the band wrote the lyrics but I think they're pretty clever. I'd like to add that the Visage debut lp is to this day, one of the greatest synth-pop albums of all time.

That is all - 🙂

Hooverphonic – Plus Profond Lyrics 1 year ago
scrimshaw, if you're still out there, that sound you hear I believe is a guitar played with an EBow.
Here is another pretty good example - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xnfKzoqW--A

Son House – Death Letter Lyrics 3 years ago
@[azkm:43170], that's not the impression I get. The girl was somewhere distant when she died - it's not explained. He had to grab his suitcase to go where she was.

Son House – Grinning in your face Lyrics 3 years ago
You know your mother would talk about you
Your own sisters and your brothers too
They just don't care how you're tryin' to live
They'll talk about you still.

TRUTH. I been there.

Kate Bush – Watching You Without Me Lyrics 3 years ago
Seems like a ghost is trying to contact the living. All these years later and it's still wonderfully freaky sounding.

The Beatles – Hey Jude Lyrics 3 years ago
@[jaimetoi:43169], Paul lied. No one talks to a 5 year old kid like that. This song is about smack.

submissions
The Beatles – Hey Jude Lyrics 3 years ago
@[bmrutt:43168], It's been mentioned in previous posts. The drug references are so obvious, but most people don't want to face the fact that their heroes/idols, whom they love so much, could write a song so sinister. Only they did. But I too am absolutely convinced and always will be, that "Hey Jude" is about heroin.

Ultravox – I Want To Be A Machine Lyrics 3 years ago
@[PeluCrespins:41757] \r\n\r\nBilly Currie was the band\'s violin/viola player, as well as the lead keyboardist.

Ultravox – Quiet Men Lyrics 3 years ago
@[PeluCrespins:41756] <\r\nUltravox. Gary Numan has admitted several times that the John Foxx led Ultravox was a major influence on his early sound, even stating that he only trying to sound like them while recording the Replicas lp. Ultravox\'s keyboard player and violinist, Billy Currie even joined Numan\'s Tubeway Army and toured with him during the European leg of the first tour. Currie later left and worked with Visage and then reformed Ultravox, with Midge Ure on lead vocals.

Frank Sinatra – I Thought About You Lyrics 3 years ago
Slick, suave...this number really swings in a low key kind a way, baby. \nIt\'s also self explanatory.

submissions
The Howling Wolf – Goin' Down Slow Lyrics 3 years ago
Pretty self explanatory. A man has led a life of debauchery and is now regretful as he lays dying.

submissions
The Human League – Seconds Lyrics 3 years ago
Great song...as already stated its about the assassination of JFK. I prefer this darker sound to the poppier songs they made.

Living Colour – Pride Lyrics 3 years ago
Cool sounding song but it\'s not entirely accurate. I assume the lyricist is referring to Africa and Africa wasn\'t a peaceful land. No land has been a truly peaceful land since Caine slew Abel.

Gary Numan – I'm An Agent Lyrics 10 years ago
@Major Valor Read Numan's autobiography. He's referring to groupies if I remember correctly.

Japan – Quiet Life Lyrics 12 years ago
Makes sense. Before 'Quiet Life' the band was still hanging on to the the glam rock styles of the early 70s. Check out this clip - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnP0mUMx5DM

Bill Nelson – October Man Lyrics 12 years ago
I don't really know what this song is about, although I do remember reading a Bill Nelson interview where he mentioned that a lot of strange things happen to him in autumn. I guess this is related.

Anyway, this track is phenomenal and features the best e-bow guitar playing I've ever heard.

XTC – Real by Reel Lyrics 12 years ago
These lyrics are more relevant now than ever. Cameras are everywhere, emails are monitored, phone calls are monitored, cars have tattle tale boxes...no privacy at all these days.

Roxy Music – Re-Make/Re-Model Lyrics 13 years ago
True. I wonder if it inspired DEVO's crazy solo on Blockhead?

submissions
Siouxsie and the Banshees – Shadowtime Lyrics 13 years ago
True tad482. Great song, along with 'Kiss Them For Me'...shame about the rest of the album.

submissions
The Beatles – Hey Jude Lyrics 13 years ago
Because the song isn't really meant for Julian at all. In other words Paul was lying. It doesn't matter what the name of the person in the song is...it could have been called "Hey Jane", but it's still so clearly about heroin.

David Sylvian – Before The Bullfight Lyrics 13 years ago
I agree except I don't need the tobacco and alcohol. Gone To Earth = masterpiece.

submissions
Siouxsie Sioux – Here Comes That Day Lyrics 14 years ago
I wonder if this is directed at her ex husband Budgie?

Cool song about the assassination of JFK. Sound very basic but it works.

XTC – Making Plans For Nigel Lyrics 15 years ago
Colin Moulding explained this on their video compilation. It's about parents who map out their kids future for them. Moulding also said it was somewhat autobiographical.

Japan – Ain't That Peculiar Lyrics 15 years ago
Cool intro and some of the best drumming I've ever heard...with those awesome fill ins. Steve Jansen is one terribly underrated drummer.

submissions
Gary Numan – Dominion Day Lyrics 15 years ago

"Oh your city lies in dust, my friend"...sounds like Numan was listening to Siouxsie and The Banshees when he wrote this number.

submissions
Gary Numan – My Breathing Lyrics 15 years ago
Numan singing about being famous again. Great sounding song. He should have done a entire album featuring exotic music like this, instead of the same old electro funk he was doing at that time...and long afterwards.

submissions
Kraftwerk – Computer World Lyrics 15 years ago
The lyrics make more sense now than ever. 'Computer World' was released in 1981. Back then synth/techno/electro pop was fresh and seemed like plenty of synth bands were popping up all over the place. Then it was like Kraftwerk put out a new album to show them all how it's done.

Lene Lovich – Lucky Number Lyrics 15 years ago
What the poster above already said.
'Lucky Number' is one of the most original sounding songs I've ever heard. Lene was great at making strange vocals sound interesting.

submissions
Siouxsie and the Banshees – Fear (of the Unknown) Lyrics 15 years ago
I agree with others who said this song crap. Sounds like it took all of 3 minutes to write it.

Siouxsie and the Banshees – Slowdive Lyrics 15 years ago
Don't know exactly what it's about,,,but back in the day when I was a club regular on "goth night", this song came on I HAD to dance to it.

submissions
Japan – Still Life In Mobile Homes Lyrics 15 years ago
I once saw a film about river people in China who live their entire lives on boats and don't ever step foot on dry ground. I think that's what this song is about.

Broadcast – Black Cat Lyrics 15 years ago
No idea what she's reffering to but I like this song alot. This was the first song I ever heard by Broadcast. I bought the album Tender Buttons the same week.

RIP Trish Keenan.
