Linkin Park – Waiting For The End Lyrics 13 years ago
Absolutely brilliant song from the first lyric to the last.

The best thing about it is that it can apply to so many situations. It expresses the feelings and emotions behind the end of one phase in life and the inevitable, impending beginning of another.

You get to the end and realize it was never meant to last forever and it's time to let go because what used to be there is gone now ("Holding onto what I haven't got"). Whether you're ready or not, it's time to move on.

"Flying at the speed of light
Thoughts we're spinning in my head
So many things were left unsaid
It's hard to let you go"

Hard to pick only one part of the song, but these words summarize the entire song perfectly. Think about how fast important life events seem to come and go, how difficult it can be to grasp what's happening, to voice your emotions, and ultimately to let go and move forward.

Sum 41 – Best Of Me Lyrics 14 years ago
The whole time they were together, the relationship was good and it worked, but there were some things he didn't do to the best of his ability. Now that he has lost her, for whatever reason, he realizes that he loves her so much that he will do whatever it takes to get her back because she "means so much" and he will give her absolutely everything he has to give if she would only give him another chance. He realizes now that it's time to show her the best of him, because he finally sees that she is the one and deserves his whole heart.

SR-71 – My World Lyrics 14 years ago
Amazing song. One of my all time favorites.

"The fastest man in the world, fast asleep at the wheel"

---I have two ideas for what this could mean:
I think the line's meaning is that he's not just your average person, but even someone who is a talented/exceptional person can still fall asleep at the wheel.
This could refer to either:
1. The singer, meaning he was dating the girl and became complacent and lost control (or crashed), and he lost her because she broke up with him and ended up with someone else
OR
2. The girl's boyfriend, meaning that the singer can tell that the new boyfriend may be better on the surface than he is (i.e., some combination of being better looking, more talented, higher status, etc.), but he's just coasting through the relationship with the girl who means the world to the singer.

"I can still find the smell, on my clothes and skin"
---Definitely refers to the girl's smell. Probably means the singer was with her at one point before the current boyfriend.

My favorite lines are the most powerful lines where the singer turns the chorus around the last time through with the emotional

"You make me high!
You make me real!
You make me cry!
Now you know the way I feel
Love is all around you,
your universe is full
But in my world,
there is only you"

It's all about loving someone with every piece of your heart, and this song captures that feeling so perfectly.

An interesting play on words with the title... There are different times where the song says the words "my world" as in "but in my world, there is only you"....so it seems apparent that that is where the title comes from. He's talking about his world, meaning for his life there is only her. But the song title "My World" could double to mean that the girl about whom he is singing is actually "His World", as if I were to say "This girl is my world."

Not sure about the title thing, but I always found that interesting. Amazing song with true feeling. I still don't understand how this song never became bigger than it is, because it's so relatable and the music is so good.

Linkin Park – Iridescent Lyrics 14 years ago
What's so great about this album is that a lot of the songs can be interpreted so many ways. I think the aforementioned war/nuclear war theme is definitely a part of it, but for this song specifically, try considering it as a metaphor of a rough time in a relationship. With that in mind, here's my metaphorical interpretation of the song:

"You were standing in the wake of devastation
You were waiting on the edge of the unknown
With the cataclysm raining down
Inside's crying save me now
You were there impossibly alone"

---These lines are unquestionably feelings of unequal emptiness experienced after a rough or possibly abrupt breakup, or even the death of a loved one.

"And in a burst of light that blinded every angel
As if the sky had blown the heavens into stone
You felt the gravity of tempered grace
Falling into empty space
No one there to catch you in their arms"

---This verse is him rethinking what happened, maybe there was a specific event that was so significant that it ended the relationship. Its impact (so great that it "blinded every angel" and "had blown the heavens into stone") is that the relationship came to an unexpected end because this event happened. And once it happened, the significant other was suddenly gone for whatever reason, and was no longer there to support him (as in the line "no one there to catch you in their arms")

"And finally the chorus:
Do you feel cold and lost in desperation
You build up hope but failure's all you've known
Remember all the sadness and frustration
And let it go
Let it go"

---It's like someone trying to push them to overcome the seemingly impossible difficulties of their life right now to move on. When I listen to this, I think of this as some sort of inner passion or strength that won't let the person succumb to the depression, possibly a guardian angel that will look after him even when he is completely alone.

This is a truly beautiful song and the lyrics are truly powerful. Behind 'Waiting for the End', this is my 2nd favorite song from 1000 Suns.

Sum 41 – What Am I To Say? Lyrics 14 years ago
He is in a relationship that once was amazing, but no longer has the excitement and the love it once did. There are hints of infidelity or other problems within the relationship, but overall I think a situation like the one described comes from lots of little things adding up over time until finally you realize it really isn't what it once was. It's as if the couple is staying together because it's easier to avoid facing their problems. He is finally realizing that if he can feel so disappointed and ultimately, apathetic about the negative turns the relationship has taken, she can't be his soul mate even if he once thought she was the one.

This is my favorite song from their new album. Its slow pace and the sincerity of the lyrics remind me of Best of Me and With Me from Underclass Hero. All are powerful songs with emotional lyrics and beautiful music.

OneRepublic – All This Time Lyrics 14 years ago
I understood this song a little differently than what seems to be the majority opinion here but here's what I thought:

He's in a relationship with someone but is just realizing that he should be with someone else. The other person was waiting for him all along and while he didn't know it, he was actually waiting for her too. Now that he realizes she's the one for him, he's going to do whatever it takes to be with her, as shown by the lines "all these words can't waste them on another", which means he's going to end the relationship with his current girlfriend (and therefore not waste his words and time on her anymore now that he knows she's not who he is supposed to be with), and also the line "straight in a straight line running back to you", which means he overlooked his true love when he had his first chance to be with her; but he is now going to be with her with no more interuptions because he can finally see clearly that she is his true love.

Mitch Allan – Make me high Lyrics 15 years ago
The girl he loves is with someone else and it crushes him so much that he questions whether or not she ever really cared about him, even when they were together.

He then questions her about her new boyfriend, asking her if "he makes you high, makes you real, makes you cry, does he know the way you feel?" He is asking her how much the new boyfriend really cares about her. He reminds her that "love is all around you, your universe is full", showing that she may not need him, but then he concludes the verse with the powerful line "but in my world, there is only you", which shows the magnitude of his love for her.

The final chorus is slightly altered, as he dramatically tells her, or perhaps even begs her to understand, that "you made me high, you made me real, you made me cry", showing how much he cared about her (and still does). The line "now you know the way I feel" could mean that he had previously hidden his feelings for her in the past, but is now revealing them to her with a hopeless devotion that will never stop until he is with her again. The final line iterates that devotion and the power of his love, as he repeats "but in my world, there is only you."

He is devastated that they are no longer together because he put his whole heart and his entire being into the relationship. Sadly, she does not do the same, setting him up to take a huge blow when she leaves him, but even so, nothing in the world will stop his love for her.

--This is my favorite song of all time. Beautiful music, powerful lyrics, and a strong message. If you're going to love, give it everything you've got. You never know what you might mean to someone else.
