As egotistical it might seem at a first glance, I think this song is more about a person who was overly optimisitc, or overly trusting, and their hopes were crushed or the person they put their trust into betrayed them. The person retreats into himself, he decides the world is full of terrible people, and he's the only one who matters, and he's the best person there is. "I don't care about anyone else but me" It sounds pretty selfish, but also sad. This sort of "From now on, I'm only looking after myself, screw them, I won't be crushed anymore" I think we may have all felt like this at some point, I'm sure I have. |
