this song is awesome. i suppose this song could be about a girl, or at least be taken that way at first but after really hearing his words i think he's singing about music. he says thigns that sound like he was feeling like watsing his time by not doing the music he likes. when he says "i'm on my feet, i'm on the floor i'm good to go" i think he's saying hes just ready to go do something. a show or what have you. then he says "i wanna always feel like part of this was mine. i wanna fall in love tonight" and i think this means he wants to make his own mark on music and he's just saying he's in love with music and the music the band makes. someone at the top said the bridge was taken from songs they liked... so if you think about that and not just think of those lyrics as love poetry for a girl then it makes even more sense for them to be serenading the bands of rock 'n' roll. i couldn't tell all of the songs... if all of the lyrics in that part ARE covered but i know there's "our house" by madness and "crimson and clover" by a band i forgot. i think it's tommy james and the shondells. anyway, that's what i think the song's about. |

yeah this song is great but just cause you hear another song with the same general riff doesn't mean this song is copying it or anything of the like. there are many songs with the same guitar progressions but they aren't ever related together. that's what groups songs together. it's the music behind the lyrics and there's got to be SOMETHING to make them all tie in within a big musical group. don't think i'm being a dick or anything. i'm just giving you my response.
anyway, i think this song is about gaining an admiration and relationship with someone over an amount of time. when you fall in love with them it seems like they're the stars and when they're gone it's like day- the stars are gone but you know they'll be abck again, like when the sun sets. i can't express my interpretation nearly as dramatically so that it actually does the lyrics justice but if you've ehard the songs you know there's some big message behind this. he wants to tell this person how he feels but he doesn't have anythign to say or any way to go about letting her know. i guess that's all i can say. that's what i think this song (the greatest nfg song ever) is about. |

wow this song is amazing. just amazing. maybe i'm a little aesthetically anal but i can't let myself really enjoy a song if it doesn't have good lyrics, regardless of the music itself. needless to say i've sat here and listened to this song in loop over and over again about 20 times at least. these lyrics make me wanna write something profound and emotional. it's such an inspiring somg and i can relate to it as much as anyone in here cause i too have been crushing over a girl who is a very very good friend of mine, and i too can't bring myself to tell her how i feel. ilistening to this song, i feel like i should get my guitar and walk down the street to her house (last year i sat by her in a class and found out that i actually live in the same neighborhood as her) and just sing this song to her right there. right at that moment but i could never do anything like that. god, it's weird how people SHOULD be friends with who they have a relationship with but if they are friends prior to a relationship it just amkes everyhting so difficult. feelings are never spoken of and it's really aggravating to hold this in. "my lungs are so numb from holding back" right? that says it all i believe. the part where he says "regret..." almost brings me to tears. it's so beautiful. jimmy eat world sure is a great band. it's too bad it took so long for everyone to realize that. |

well, i just think this song is about being disillusioned by a girl, thinking she was perfect and all that other stuff. when he finds out what a bitch she is he just builds up all this angst. i'm pretty sure this is what it is cause i've been throught he same thing and i relate to every single word of this song. i just wanna know if anyone can tell me what's being sung in the background in the final part? that's such an amazing part and the backup singing is the perfect touch to almost bring me to tears of astonishment. |

yeah i hate to say it but ted isn't in the band anymore and he wasn't the singer. but listen to saves the day anyway cause it doesn't matter if you know who sings, they deserve to be listened to as long as whoever's listening can really appreciate it.
anyway, i have a feeling this song is about touring and being on the road doing shows and stuff and he's just thinking about how amazing the experience has been but it's bittersweet cause he really longs to see his girlfriend or whoever it is that's on his mind. that's what i think. |

that's sick to think that chris conly is actually talking about killing someone. i don't think he would write a song to make him come off as a cannibal or anything without making it clear that it is not a serious thought. the man, being the vegan that he is, seems to have a lot of knowledge about how to treat others and drinking someone's blood just puts a sick thought in my mind for him. i personally think this song is just about the inner torment that goes on when someone has betrayed you. he's going through all these scenarios in his mind, telling himself how pissd off he is but knows he will never do such a thing. i don't necessarily think this song is about a girl. it never says anything about that but we as a group of following bloodsuckers seem to dwell on emotional lyrics that revolve around the heartache that comes from the opposite sex. therefore if we hear a song with a little bit of angst, we autmatically think it's about a break-up or something of the like. i just think he was pissed off about something and seeks revenge but only in his mind so he can find solace. |

hi, this is savetheday05. i forgot my password so i made a new name just so i could tell anniethebrave that she (or he) should be a little more respectful to the creative perspective that saves the day possesses and shows in their videos. for one reason, it's very rare that the band in the video is responsible for crafting the treatment for the video. i'll admit that it is highly unlikely for the shoulder to the wheel video to ever have been nominated for any awards as far as concept or anything like that is concerned but i also understand that they probably had no intentions for any of that. and to call "at your funeral" a gay video deserves public ridcule on your part. if you weren't so high off of spray paint to pay attention to what's going on behind him in the video you would see the artistry and dramatic timing of each scene. i'm sorry that you can be so anal to the point where you would put down other people's visions and creations. it's surely something to look down upon. i applaude saves the day for what they do on or off screen. they make music and i think ALL of their videos have done a loyal job to complement the song playing over them. |
