Taylor Swift – Innocent Lyrics 13 years ago
Have actually just listened to the lyrics closely again now and I have suddenly realised that actually 'you' she refers to is herself I think. After the VMA incident, she was obviously really upset (hence she hasn't really spoken about that time and refuses to do so to this day) and it took her a while to realise that it wasn't her fault that he did what he did. Perhaps she realised that her successes were having an impact on other artists and not everyone was going to be happy for her. I can imagine that this would have kept her up at night:
'But at night you live it all again
You wouldn't be shattered on the floor now
If only you had seen what you know now then'
And also it would have hit her confidence hard ('shattered on the floor'), the tight rope being the fine line you have to walk to remain successful - she thought she had lost it:
'You lost your balance on a tight rope
But its never too late to get it back'

The 32 reference is that people are always going to be growing up, no matter how old they are - no one ever stops growing up and learning lessons.

Train – Drops of Jupiter Lyrics 14 years ago
I don't know why, but this song always makes me want to cry. I have no idea why, I find it really emotional, even without knowing the lyrics.
I think its a wonderful song, written about his mother - now that I know that, it seems much sadder. But you could look at it either from that point of view, or as two people who were more than friends but less than together, which is the way I now look at it :) Namely because thats my situation.
Awesome song, awesome artist. Although I have to say I do like Taylor Swifts live cover :D

Scouting for Girls – Love How It Hurts Lyrics 14 years ago
Really love this song. It may sound like an upbeat, poppy anthem (like the majority of their work) but you can hear the pain and the desperation in the way he sings it. There are some people who you will never really let go of, and will do anything for but they don't see it or, worse, choose to ignore it. It really resonates me, not so much in the music but so much in the lyrics. Thank you Scouting for Girls, a class track!!

Adele – Someone Like You Lyrics 14 years ago
For me, this song is about unrequited love as well as a break up. When you fall for that one that you think could be the one but you cannot be with them because they don't feel the same way. And you bump into them down the line and everything is fine for them but you still miss them and love them in the way that you always have and they will never see that. It sung so beautifully, with so much heart it's hard not to fall in love with the song. I cried when I first heard it; the lyrics are breathtaking.

Paolo Nutini – Last Request Lyrics 14 years ago
I know that this is about a break up, but for me I see it as something for the guy who always see's me as invisible. Yeah we are good friends, but he will never see me like that, unlike me - I have liked him for 2 years now, I just can't move on from him for some reason. Recently we have drifted apart a bit but we're growing closer again, despite the fact that we are moving away to university.

'Sure I can accept we're going nowhere, but one last time lets go there.' - I know we won't be together now but I still want to hope that before we leave, we'll have a 'moment'. I had lost hope until last week, when we started talking again; its given me hope for one last time.

'I just want you closer, is that alright?' whilst we are friends, I think I'll probably always want that little bit more, despite that I can't tell him that; I would hate to lose him as a friend.

Just my humble opinion on some of my key lines

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds – O Children Lyrics 14 years ago
Agreed - I don't know what it is, I don't particularly like the song because it scares me but yet I can't get it out of my head. I have no idea why it scares me, it did when I saw it in Harry Potter but knowing the lyrics now it bloody petrifies me.
I like you interpretations though :)

The Fray – Over My Head (Cable Car) Lyrics 14 years ago
I like this interpretation - my situation is different to yours in so many ways; namely that I'm struggling to move on after failing to complete a challenge called ten tors. The aim is to walk 55miles across Dartmoor in two days - sounds easy, I mean its just walking after all. But the truth is, I find it so hard. I have trained for four years out of five and not walked across that hallowed finish line. Now I will never walk across the finish line; I am moving away from the area for university and you can't do it unless you are under 20.

But the same sort of themes apply, I find (or I may just be really sad and pathetic!!)
Your interpretation of the first verse: "I never knew that all you needed was a bit of trouble, and you'd be running away..." My reasons for not finishing have been little things like injuries and one year, the poor weather. It seems, the slightest thing goes wrong and bam! Thats it for me.

The second verse: I wish I didn't know you so well, so I could just lie and pretend like I agree. But I thought it was better to tell you the truth, and now we're quickly drifting apart because of it." There have been times where I wish that I hadn't started trying for it because that way I'd have no link and no desire to prove to myself that I could do it. Watching the teams come home and across the finish wouldn't bother me like it does now.

The third verse: "Suddenly, I really am losing you. I didn't ever think it would come to this, but it has, and now I'm nothing more than a part of your past, a fading memory." I always believed that there was another year for me, another chance. But there isn't any more, I have to accept that I can't finish, next year I won't even be part of it. And that breaks my heart - the hope is gone.

The chorus: "I just can't handle this, but I can't stop thinking about it." My mum, bless her, says that I should just let go, move on. I know that she is right but I can't bring myself to believe it, to let go.

Thankyou for this interpretation, I think that it could fit so many situations to be honest - just my take. I seem to have ranted on for a while... I would never tell anyone close to me this; I'm supposed to be the tough strong one. Ten Tors really has been the best experience of my life, I think it has probably made me who I am. It has shown me that not everything has a fairy tale ending.

Lady A – Just A Kiss Lyrics 14 years ago
Argh, so madly in love with this song! Can't stop listening to it, really beautiful. I don't know what it is about it but it has this way of making me feel full and contented inside, really resonates with me somehow, the combination of instruments and their amazing voices.
Can't wait for their new album! My most anticipated album of the year so far :D

Taylor Swift – If This Was a Movie Lyrics 14 years ago
Hmm I can see your point but listening to all the bonus tracks on Speak Now (and in fact Fearless) I feel as though many of them are about John Mayer, she really seemed to put him on a pedastal.
On Fearless for instance the bonus tracks 'Untouchable' and 'SuperStar' are possibly about him, he was the celebrity that all the girls wanted.
On Speak Now, the bonus tracks 'Ours' and 'Superman' are about when they were together and how everyone told her to get out of the relationship yet she didn't. I think that 'If this was a movie', whilst sounding like Paramore, is about the start of their break up.
I think he really messed her up and was a huge part of her life but she perhaps didn't to draw attention to this fact. Just my humble opinion and either way I LOVE her albums :D

Taylor Swift – Ours Lyrics 14 years ago
John Mayer again?? Hence why it didn't make the album - she was proved wrong, everyone told her to stay away but she didn't and I suspect she wrote this song about it, believing that it would last. A fantastic song nevertheless :D we all make mistakes

Taylor Swift – Superman Lyrics 14 years ago
Definitly John Mayer which is why I don't think it made the album - she wrote it while she wa swith him and it would have been a bit strange to have it on there. Same for Ours. Still a fab song though :D

Taylor Swift – Jump Then Fall Lyrics 15 years ago
I LOVE this song!! I wish I could sing, just so I can sing this to a guy who's so close yet so far away! We have these amazing moments where I think he will jump but then he doesn't. This song makes me believe that one day, he will.
I wish I could thank Taylor in person for her amazing songs, they give me hope and faith that somewhere out there, there is a someone for everyone, even if you get your heart broken a million times :)

Taylor Swift – Innocent Lyrics 15 years ago
Living in the UK means that I don't hear a lot of the gossip and rumours about Taylor Swift, I only found out about the VMT awards debarcle through this site last week! But I think this song goes deeper than that incident, refering to more than just one thing.
I definitly think its about growing up and so on with reference to Kanye West:
'Did some things you can't speak of
But tonight you live it all again
You wouldn't be shattered on the floor now
If only you had seen what you know now then'

But then I wonder if theres a reference to Adam from Fireflies? Here:
'Wasn't it easier in your firefly catching days
When everything out of reach someone bigger brought down to you
Wasn't it beautiful running wild 'til you fell asleep
Before the monsters caught up to you'

Obviously I don't know what the story was between the two of them, but the word firefly just makes me think maybe...

Then the 32 reference maybe John Mayer? Again dont know the story but it could be, which is why I think that maybe it is about several different guys that she's been with, and that it's all part of growing up? And no matter what happens, there's always another day. Just my humble opinion. I love the whole of hr new album, really speaks volumes to me :)
