I think its about him falling for a girl thats the opposite of him. Someone who he thinks is out of his league. And she's toying with him. And he keeps giving in because he can't deny that he's so in love with her. And she continues to toy with his heart and it just keeps adding up. My blue heaven being used almost as an oxymoron... something thats depressing yet happy at the same time. She makes him soo happy but sad at the same time because she keeps toying with him and he knows that he might be with her right now, but tomorrow will come and she'll ignore him again and then come back to him. Makes me think of like a high school scenario where the popular girl is running around with the punk boy but doesnt want anyone to know so she hides her relationship with him. And he lets it happen, he's trying to be patient but he's so jealous of seeing her flirt with other guys as if she's not with him. not sure if that makes sense. |

i think its about them trying to write/record an album, they have 26 days to get it all done and all theyre doing is fighting over it. which is where the comparison to lotf comes in. And how someone gets overly dramatic over it and tries to put it off as their love of something (writing). I believe after john and shaun left they made a comment about splitting because all they did was fight about who would write what and never got anything done. |

I think this song is about like leaving your high school sweet heart behind or something along the lines of that. She wants to stay in the same town the grew up in and visit the same streets and same places but he wants to see more places. He comes back to visit her and sees everything is still the same, and he still has feelings for her. Yet he knows they can never get things back to how they were at there best. And this is what he thinks after visiting her when he's on his way back home, or maybe just him driving on the highway and having a flash back. He listens to the sappy songs and he gets them now and he thinks back to that innocent youth and first loves but now he's on the highway to his later life... adult hood. Any input?? |
