Phish – Farmhouse Lyrics 15 years ago
Yeah this kid is definitely a douchebag. Farmhouse is probably the only Phish song you've ever heard because of its popularity in the 90's, you know, when you were in middle school and discovered shitty bands like new found glory and finch that play a 3 chord progression that my daughter was playing in preschool? Way to come on a forum of one of the most technically gifted musical groups in the modern age of music and talk about stabbing babies and hating hippies. Guess what asshole? I grew up in a small southern town and have a strong tendency to vote republican...but apparently because I appreciate good music I'm a hippie.

Maybe the reason you came on here was because there is no need for a discussion on new found glory and finch...mainly because they are probably two of the furthest things from the form of art we call music that I can even think of. Why don't you go listen to your screamo and jerk off with your tears you miserable fuck

Phish – The Divided Sky Lyrics 15 years ago
I believe "divided sky" is a part of the gamehendge saga. Not entirely sure how but I like to think that the famous mockingbird, in order for Colonel Forbin and Icculus to defeat the evil king Wilson, must divide the sky.

Phish – Dirt Lyrics 15 years ago
Beautiful song.

Definitely the truth and meaning of death. Seeing it as simply as the next phase of the life cycle, and that while others may miss you, they are confused and don't understand why exactly they will "never hear your voice again".

When I think of those I've lost, I listen to this song and it makes it easier...not easier in a sense that I don't miss them terribly, but a sense that everything will be ok and that I should be greatful for the opportunity I was given to share part of life with those people.

"kneel down and kiss the earth and show me what this thought is worth"

Phish – Dinner And A Movie Lyrics 15 years ago
Sarantigo has the right idea. Its cool to know what these songs are about but I really wish people would write there own analysis of the song sometimes, even if they're unsure of its validity.

Everybody has a different outlook and understanding of things.

"we're all in this together"

Phish – Colonel Forbin's Ascent Lyrics 15 years ago
I'm curious as to whether or not every part of gamehenge is representative of something else. Any good thoughts? Don't hold anything back this has been an aching thought in the back of my head since the early days

Phish – Character Zero Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is easy to understand if they are referencing the hit TV show M*A*S*H. Father Mulcahey is the priest at the military hospital in Korea where the show takes place. Like most priests in modern religion he is a character many go to for advice.

I believe this song is about Trey, or maybe another member of the group, growing up and reaching a self-realization that life is what you make it and to live with no regrets. Therefore, going to Father Mulcahey for advice would be rather fitting in this case.

I would have to say its arguable that, not only does the build-up for CZ make it one of their most awesome songs to see live, but it represents the point where the group really began to take off, using the message of this tune as it's backbone. Those boys haven't wasted a day of life in the nearly half century they've been around and their ability to never hold back and live without regret is the reason they are who they are today.

Phish – Chalk Dust Torture Lyrics 15 years ago
I realize that not all Phish lyrics dont make sense...mostly because trey, mike, page, fishman, and tom all enjoy just phucking around with the lyrics and they dont always hold much meaning. I also realize that not all Phish lyrics are drug references like some people may think.

That being said, "the torture of chalkdust collects on my tongue" is no more complex than eating molly(MDMA) and enjoying the simple pleasures of youth and drug experimentation.

The use of the the word vasoconstrictor makes me think the chalkdust could be cocaine, as it is, in fact, a vasoconstrictor.

As many heads are aware, we may never know for sure what some of our favorite jams ever written are truly about.
