My take is a girl (I'm saying girl because in the third verse he says "you'll fuck up you're make up" and I hope a dude isn't wearing the make up) who runs from everything because she is weak, but she can't run away from the person that she are so eventually her problems will catch up to her. He says she has "been there before and you know you're gonna be there again," like she made this mistake before and she's going to make it again. "It's kinda sad how you lost what you had and you're never gonna have it again." This line to me means that the girl is an idiot and threw away something amazing and because of it she'll never have something like that again. In the second verse he talks about they leave her "two steps behind" so she doesn't care what they say. This could mean she's so self-absorbed that she refuses to see how "far behind" she is from everyone so she "doesn't care what they say." These people or we could even say he's referring to "they" as her problems. But "they" hold her back and deep inside she knows she needs to stop running, change, and face them. This girl is selfish and thinks that everything comes for free and should be easy. "Sergio laughed for the last time today, He said It never really bothered me: we all have dues to pay. Like a man that's cut off at the knee, he hobbles, and hobbles because nothing is free" He's saying basically that people make sacrifices to be truly happy. "So wake up, wake up, wake up, but don't cry because you'll fuck up your make up, and if you do, you won't get laid, you won't make money, no you won't get paid" He's saying that the only good thing going for her is her looks and she can't "fuck up" her make up because then she'll have nothing. She acts so free like she doesn't have a care in the world and everyone laughs because it's bullshit. He can see right through her. She talks about how she doesn't need them which could be anyone in her life that is actually trying to help but she doesn't need help so she pushes them out of her life. "I don't need to see the end" She doesn't care about how this could affect her later on in life she just wants what she wants now. |

I agree with goregoregadget. She ended up being someone completely different in the end. My favorite lines are You brought your worst and I"m right here Now I've seen it all And it's never been so clear ...like she screwed him over but he's still standing and he says the real her which is most likely a bitch. |

Well... anyone can take the lyrics how they want it. This is probably my favorite album of 2010 mostly because of the lyrics. He could be talking about an asshole friend but I related with the chorus the most. When you fall I’ll be the only one who looks away When you call I’ll be the first to tell you I can’t stay It’s all over, I found a better way to help keep you from me I’m better off this way Woah-oh, woah-oh I'm better off this way Woah-oh, woah-oh I just got out of a terrible relationship and it ended because she's weak and just quit because it required work so the first two lines I see as when she realizes she made the biggest mistake of her life and tries to come back for help or whatever, I'll just leave her to her fate. The relationship is over and I realized she's the worst person ever and I'm so much better off. As for the second verse (yes it says gentlemen) I just can't wait to see her burn for how she treated me. My whole life’s spent waiting, Ever since I can remember been anticipating your fall, And God let it be a long one Can’t let go of my grudge till I know you’re done So that's how I related to it. |
