Of course there are those times that you hear or see things you wish you hadn’t. Sometimes those things get you upset because of some bad experiences and/or repressed feelings. You preferred that somebody had “clos[ed] a goddamn door” to prevent you from seeing or hearing such things because to some, ignorance is bliss. While things may have occurred in the past, there’s no need to dwell on them. But if something comes up and makes you think of it, “It’s much better to face these kinds of things with a sense of poise and rationality.” Nothing can change the past, it’s always better to think positive and only reach forward. In relationships, both the guy and the girl really have to work on it if they want to last together. But in a lot of relationships, the thing that happens is that the guy or the girl just doesn’t make the effort. There are too many failed relationships because of this. So people are fed up with relationships because it can be a big challenge. It hurts too much to put yourself out there and end up disappointed. “[People] break up. It’s something that we do now. Everyone has got to do it sometime. It’s ok, let it go.” This song shows both the guy’s and the girl’s fault in their relationship. “She’s going out to forget they were together. “Your subtleties, they strangle me” The little things, the games played by guys and girls, they can really, really hurt. You realize you’re unhappy and tired of all the games. Relationships can be very fun and exciting and all, but as Red Foreman says in That ‘70s Show, “Girls gum up the works.” Guys can too of course. I tell some of my friends, “You don’t need a boyfriend or girlfriend! You’re young and in high school, just have fun. Focus on school and enjoy the company of your friends. Being in a relationship can be cool, but not when it completely screws you over and changes your life and the way you think. You don’t need that now.” “I can’t explain myself at all And all that wants and all that needs All I don’t want to need at all” Sometimes when in a tripped out relationship, you’re at a loss for words. The whole situation you’re in is so complicated, no words can describe how or what you’re feeling! It can be so frustrating; you just get fed up with all the crap. There’s the feeling to just say “forget it!!” and walk away. “[Your] mind’s unweaving”. “I can’t explain what you can’t explain … I look at you with such disdain.” There has to be communication and compromise. You can’t half-ass your effort in a relationship. Meanest/ immature thing to do. How is that supposed to make you look? “Just a little insight, won’t make this right.” You want your relationship better, TALK! Don’t be a huge lying, selfish, hypocrite. Oh, sure that’ll have things the way you want it. “It’s better that I see it through your eyes. All these thoughts locked inside.” When you let the other person know how you’re feeling, that’s when compromise really happens. When all the lack of communication or miscommunication end, there’s hope and a new beginning in store. That’s when there will be no trouble and/or hurt feelings. In life people are bound to go through their downs. It’s inevitable. Those discouragements, however, are meant to be overcome. After you move on, you either have a fun time for a while and/or have yet another downer that just bums you out. It’s a cycle. Everyone goes through it. Don’t feel alone. “Hop up out the bed turn [your] swag on. Pay no attention to them haters” Be an individual; be yourself. Try your hardest not to let too much bring you down. When you truly feel that there is that one person “that everything [they] do is super duper cute and [you] can’t stand it” You hang on to that person for as long as you can. Do what you have to to make sure they know just how much they mean to you. Because if you do and it somehow ends up not working out, you can say you honestly tried. You “can’t stand it” (how amazing they are) and you gotta love it. Of course, you don’t love it when you’re going through some rough patches, but if the whole love and affection is mutual.. you’ll get through it all.. Having a real nice relationship is wonderful. I'm real into all the songs on WATIC's album, Guaranteed to Disagree. I really like songs that feature both a guy and a girl singing to one another. It's powerful stuff. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- "I remember the nights we spent under city lights This feelings got the best of me We were floating along to the sounds of a dead end town But now that's just a memory" -It's over between the two and what they had (which was magical) seems so far away and is seeming never going to come back. "I can't figure you out, you've got more fight in you Than anybody else And here's the part where I start to make my own damn decisions And make a name for my self" -There's miscommunication between the two. They just can't seem to get on the right page. "Fight", probably the guy is pretty stubborn. The girl is done with the relationship and has to just press on. CHORUS "I'll never be what you want I wouldn't change any part of me Just to make you stay You had a piece of my heart But not enough to just run away 'Cause I know what's best for me" -She's never gonna live up to his expectations and she's not gonna make the effort to try to keep him. She was his but still they didn't last. She knows moving on is for the better. "Take all your big plans and throw them away I've got something in mind before we go separate ways We ask the questions baby, Who provides the answers?" -The girl had said stuff the two were gonna do together, but now that all goes down the drain. Before the two leave each other he's wondering who has the answers to all the problems they have. All they can do is question why things are the way they are. And I can't say anything, everything comes out the wrong way" -She knows she doesn't want to lose what they have and it's tearing her apart. They're separated now, but the love between them is obviously still remaining. She doesn't want to face the truth. Guy says it has to be over. Girl says, "No! I know I can't do anything right..." CHORUS "Just try, just try a little harder I'll do my best explaining all the things I'm going through Just try, just try a little harder This is why I can't adjust for you (can't adjust for you)" -Girl wants the guy to understand everything she has to say. Imploring for him to really attemp to simply hear her out. "You can't say The look in your eyes says things I don't wanna know No you, You can't stay" -The guy doesn't want to face the truth either! "I wanna be with you, and no one else I need you to feel the way that you felt that summer night When you found that puzzle piece missing for eight straight weeks You're not the perfect fit" -The guy only wants to be with her. She's his everything. He's begging and wishing she could just feel the same way about him when they were together and real happy with one another. But... they're just incompatible. CHORUS... |
