Some of these lyrics are wrong. This is what I hear. "Here come the signs Of early-warning misery Here come the sound It looks like a river under me Underneath my head" "Here comes the fight I might just lose it to tyranny Here comes the part Where you ask me for my sympathy I just might lose my head" "I made you get down I made you get down on your hands and knees But I made it up I took you away from your misery And you can't say it's my best" As for the meaning, Im gonna guess an corrupt goverment trying to take everything from an individual. Ultimately it sounds like a conflict between the indiviual and the goverment. Cornell was anti-goverment in alot of his lyrics and recognized that humanity repeats the same mistakes over and over again(ie An Unkind). The indiviual realizes the inevitable future of mankind(like a economic collapse and repeating history all over again) so he secludes himself from society(Im hard to hold, and im missing). |
