Red – Feed The Machine Lyrics 14 years ago
I agree with you but not fully. I don't think this song has anything to do with society (I'm not sure why). I'm not sure but a lot of Red's song seem to be talking about an inner conflict with your human nature and the part of you that doesn't want any part of "sin" in this case. I'm not sure if that's just me or not. And the meaning of the end is saying that in the end, if you're Christian (or someone whom believes in Christ--since anyone can say that they're Christian) then Jesus will help you prevail over the devil and your sin.

Linkin Park – No More Sorrow Lyrics 15 years ago
I don't know exactly what this song is about. Truthfully, though, it strikes me as political (and I don't even care for politics). It doesn't have to be an Anti-Bush song. It can also be a good Anti-Obama song. Doesn't matter. It just sounds anti-gov to me.

Though I can't help but love this song anyways.

Skillet – Shout To The Lord Lyrics 15 years ago
It's obvious what this song is about. God is amazing (much more than amazing, actually. He's indescribable!) and so Skillet is the best Christian Rock band ever!

Red – Intro (Canto III) Lyrics 15 years ago
Through me the way to the city of do-lent
Through me the way to eternal dole
Through me the way among people lost

Justice incited my sublime
Creator; created me divine
Omnipotence; the highest Wisdom,
and the primal Love;

Before me there were no created things,
Only eterne, and I eternal last,
All hope abandon, ye who enter in

Skillet – Better Than Drugs Lyrics 15 years ago
I can see both interpretations for this song (about God or a lover) but when I first heard this song on their Comatose album, I immediately thought of God. Trust me, I don't always say a song is about God if it's from a Christian band (truthfully, I believe that most of Skillet's Comatose album is actually about him and his lover <3) but this one I really think of how it feels like to experience God when I first met Him and when He's working on us and our hearts.

Red – Fight Inside Lyrics 15 years ago
For me, I believe this is actually about the singer fighting with his inner demon.

"Enemy, familiar friend,
My beginning and my end"

We're all born sinful (though if we die as a baby, we automatically go to Heaven), and so he's saying he's had this inner demon his whole life. The inner demon pretended to be his friend, and yet he realizes it's his enemy.

"Knowing truth, whispering lies,
And it hurts again."

He's saying here that his inner demon knows what is right ("knowing truth") but chooses to tell him lies. And when he sings "it hurts again" I think it means that every time he listens to this inner demon and does something sinful, it hurts him spiritually.

"What I fear and what I try,
Words I say and what I heard"

This part sounds to me like he fears to do what his inner demon tells him to do (maybe he doesn't want to anger his love ones) but he does it anyway. The "words I say" part sounds to me like he lies to his loved ones, saying that he had no idea why he has sinned, but he's only doing so because his inner demon told him so despite the fact he didn't want to.

"All the pain, I want it to end,
But I want it again."

Here it tells me the singer IS feeling the spiritual pain, and yet some part of him wants to listen to his inner demon.

"And it finds me,
The fight inside is coursing through my veins"

This part tells me that his inner demon had been quiet for a while, but now it's telling him to sin once more. He's trying to resist it, because one part of him does not want to sin anymore.

"And it's raging,
The fight inside is breaking me again."

But here it tells me he's losing this fight once more.

"It's still the same, pursuing pain,
Isn't worth the lie I've gained."

Here it tells me that one part of him still believed that this inner demon was his friend (hence the "lie I've gained" part) and yet another part of him knows that it still is feeding on his pain.

"We both know how this will end,
But I do it again."

I think this part is saying that the singer knows that, with the help with God, he'll win the war waging inside of him. And when he said that he'd do it again, maybe that's because it helped him grow spiritually and for the fact that part of him still wanted to listen to his inner demon

And it's raging,
The fight inside is hurting me again.

This line tells me (since it differs from the first time) that he did lose this battle and that it, once again, hurt him spiritually.

"And it finds me,
The war within me pulls me under."

Basically, his inner demon tells him to do another sinful thing, and he's so caught up in trying to resist it, that it's preoccupying his everyday life.

"And without You,
The fight inside is breaking me again."

These two lines tell me that he cannot win this "fight inside" without God's help.

"It's nothing.
It's everything."

I'm not sure, exactly, but it seems like this shows that one part of him is saying, "It's nothing," meaning, "God is nothing, forget about Him" while "It's everything" means that one part of him still wants to obey God, so he's saying, "No, He's everything."

"It's breaking me.
I'm falling apart."

These two lines are very self-explanatory. The first line is telling me that he's having a hard time winning this fight, while the second line tells me that he is crumbling under the pressure of this fight without God.

To me, this song everyone can relate to, Christians, non-Christians and Atheists alike.=)

Red – Pieces Lyrics 15 years ago
This song really is one of my favorite songs because it's so open to interpretation. I'm a Christian and I can actually see both sides of the coin for this song (meaning, I can see how this could be about a lover or about God). Either way, it's such an amazing song.

Red – Already Over Lyrics 15 years ago
As the singers have said, it's about drug addiction. Personally, I also think it's about either choosing God or choosing drug addiction, and the singer chose the drug addiction, though, near the end it seems like singer is finally realizing that this is a problem and not a solution (hence Part 2's meaning of finding God).

Red – Out From Under Lyrics 15 years ago
Just like another song by Red, this song doesn't seem like it's about God at all. I feel like it's about either a lover/sibling/friend;

"So tell me, where were you
When everything fell down like thunder"

Or about an inner demon of his (again, and yet still different than the last couple of songs dealing with inner demons) that he had listened to and hadn't realized that it was tearing him down until he was almost "spiritually dead";

"Left me for dead, inside my head
Couldn't you see that I was still breathing?"

It also sounds like the singer was so depressed and angry that he was driven to cutting himself;

"Cut me I bleed, reveal me I need
I finally broke in the pressure"

The pressure being his problems. And yet, this part still bothers me;

"Screaming, I reached for you
I couldn't get out from under"

I'm not sure if he's reaching out to a lover/friend/family member or to God, but it doesn't sound like it.

Or maybe it's about something completely different.

Like the comments above me were saying, it could also be about life before God and how people will break under pressure at one point (pressure being their problems) and, despite peoples problems, they don't realize that their dying spiritually each day without God.

Red – Breathe Into Me Lyrics 15 years ago
When I saw the video, I thought that this song became much clearer. It's about a girl (or a guy) who had a great life, but she might've made one wrong choice, and it ruined her life (like a drug addiction, or maybe stealing etc.) and it caused her to lose everything she loved. After a while, since she's so lonely, she starts dying spiritually, and the oxygen max that she wears is representing God; meaning that He's the only thing stopping her from dying spiritually completely. (Hence the "Im falling, falling" part.) It also seems like she might be driven to suicide, and is so close to that that only God is stopping her from committing it. I'm not sure, but that's what my personal interpretation is.

Red – Gave It All Away Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is actually one of the only Red songs that I don't believe is about God.

I'll try to take a stab in the dark here;

The singer is singing to a lover, but that lover had to make a choice, to walk alone (maybe for some type of addiction--hence the "You gave it all away" and "And now you've gone astray" parts) or to stay with the singer. The lover had chosen to "walk alone" and the singer is sad at that thought. He says that he needs her with him (maybe because he's also going through some hard times in his life). It also sounds like he's explaining it as a narration;

"Again
Lying in your bed
Nightmares in your head
Facing all that you just threw away
At the edge again
It's coming to an end
You had the chance to
Never walk alone".

This part also sounds like the lover whom had chosen to "walk alone" is having a hard time, has become depressed (to the point that she might be suicidal) and that she was losing him slowly, despite him waiting for her to come back. This could also be vice versa (meaning the roles are switched and it's the guy who choose to walk away instead of the girl).

Red – Confession (What's Inside My Head) Lyrics 15 years ago
I'm not sure what this songs about; but I'll take a guess at it;

I believe it's about the singer is dealing with some inner demon (once again) but this time, it's different. This song sounds like he's starting to get that the inner demon doesn't want to help him, and he's ashamed that he's ever listened to it in the first place. He's also afraid of what it might tell him to do next, since he's still well in it's grasp. When he starts singing "Take this away", he's finally calling out for God (kind of like a "prologue" for the song "Let Go" and "Take it all Away" by Red). When he yells innocence, it sounds like he's yelling it because he wants to be innocent of what he has done, but he isn't.

Red – Take It All Away Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is very sad, and yet also provides hope. To me it sounds like the singer is going through so many struggles in life, and when he goes to get help, the people he thought would help wouldn't because he's been shouldering these struggles by himself for so long he's grown distant from everyone he cared about. So he decides to turn to God (unfortunately, as a last resort) and God DOES help him with his problems.

"You take away
You take away
You take away"

Of course, God wasn't my immediate thought as I heard this song (even though I'm Christian). But after I listened to it a couple of times, I got the meaning.

Though, this song could easily be interpreted differently. It could be about him shouldering so many struggles, then he goes to the one he loves, but they won't help him (for an unknown reason). He becomes so depressed that he gives up on trying to find someone (though he's still screaming on the inside for help), and he's so far gone that it's to the point where he's all alone and that he has no friends and he isn't close with his living family.

"I'm breaking; I can't do this on my own
Can you hear me screaming out, am I all alone?"

But then he meets someone (probably another lover) and they actually care about him. They get so close that he tells her about his problems and she helps him through them.

I, personally, think it's the first interpretation I offered in this post, but that's my opinion.=)

Red – Death Of Me Lyrics 15 years ago
If you've seen the video, this songs meaning is much more clearer than just listening to it. I think it's about the fight between himself (spiritually) and himself ("flesh"/"demon"). The fight doesn't end, though, because it'll go on for the rest of your life.

Red – Let Go Lyrics 15 years ago
Well, to me (as I listen to the song, of course), this song is about the singer getting sick of his inner devil (or THE Devil him/herself) telling him what to do but what he's being told to do is wrong and is just tearing him down even more; to the point where he just couldn't ignore it anymore and is calling for God to help him fight off "his inner demon". The "You love me, you hate me" part sounds like him first being tricked into listening to this "inner demon" and thinks that it cares about him, but then he realizes that, no, it doesn't. It just wants to hurt him. Then, when the singer starts singing, "You can't have me anymore" it sounds like he's finally winning (and maybe that God is helping him win in the fight against his "inner demon") and the ending music sounds like the battle between him and his inner demon is over, even though he knows that it'll probably happen again.

Red – Already Over, Pt. 2 Lyrics 15 years ago
Truthfully, like many have said above me, I believe that it has something to do with the singer having to make a choice between an/some addiction(s) he has in life and between going to God. In the first part of Already Over, he chose the addiction, but then he finally got it at the end of the song and started heading towards God. Part 2 kind of sounds like it's the end of a long and emotionally hard battle (that's why it seems so much slower) and that he's finally chosen God over the addiction(s) in his life. Of course, this is my personal interpretation and could be easily interpreted into having to choose between some type of addiction and a lover; or between two people and he finally chosen the right lover. That's why I love Red so much. ^_^ Not all of there songs are about God, but a lot of them are and they're easy to interpret. Like I always say; a good Christian Band makes songs with only one interpretation; it's about God. The BEST Christian Bands make it so their songs can be openly interpreted by anyone and not have to be about God. ^_^
