Between the Buried and Me – The Primer Lyrics 15 years ago
@onlybtbam: I don't think "the redneck lord" is meant to portray George Bush. I think this is meant to symbolize the morals and ethics assumed and taken on by people. What I mean by that is anyone can drug their kids, kill something, have sex with anyone they want, cheat other people for money, etc., although they still claim to have a religion and meaning to their life. Their "redneck lord" guides all of their decisions, and makes it OK for them to do these things...

however, I agree that george bush can be looked at as a redneck lord to many, many people

Between the Buried and Me – Desert of Song Lyrics 15 years ago
I'm kind of thinking this song is about writers' block. How you get that feeling when nothing comes to mind, nothing works out, "The chords quit strumming… , The drums quit thumping, The throat can’t start singing," and it just feels like you're in a "desert of song" where no ideas will grow....that's what I thought when i first read the lyrics.

A lot of the posts here are really legit explanations too.

Animal Collective – Brother Sport Lyrics 15 years ago
I'm actually pretty sure that this song is about Noah Lennox losing his Dad, and he's trying to comfort his older brother, Matt, who is greatly affected by the loss. And who is also actually very good at Basketball. "Open up your throat" stop crying/grieving, and say 'just breath and let everything get better.'

Animal Collective – College Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is LITERALLY about the leader vocalist's (Avey Tare) wife, Kria Brekken. She is from Sweden and was in the band "mum," also studying physics at COLLEGE. She came to the U.S. to stay and record with Animal Collective on this album (and various others in the future), but eventually had to go back. for college. So "You don't have to go to college" means "You don't have to leave me." Like the guy above said.
