@[tgbrow:15966] Ahh, nevermind. Turns out SongMeanings' hyperlink generation is busted. It leaves out the colon after "http". Anyhow, copy and paste the link manually to get to the interview. |

Turns out the sample was a legit conversation o.O Here's an excerpt from an interview The Books did with Pitchfork (http://pitchfork.com/features/interviews/5920-the-books/) NICK: [...] What's a good example… like, "Motherless Bastard"-- that sample is one I recorded myself when I was in the Aquarium of the Pacific in Los Angeles. PITCHFORK: Wow, that's an actual person? NICK: Yeah, they had this great jellyfish exhibit, these Portuguese Man-of-Wars just floating, and next to me was that conversation. I didn't pay much attention to it but then I heard it at home later, and it was just…it kind of sets a tone. PITCHFORK: That's amazing that that’s a real conversation. It's laid out in such a way that I always figured it was from a movie. NICK: It's funny, stuff like that happens all the time. The more you have your recording equipment on, the more stuff like that you're going to get. |
Wild Beasts – Vigil for a Fuddy Duddy Lyrics | 10 years ago |
I believe this song is not about banging a "chick," but rather a blow-up sex doll (i.e. the "ghoul," which is a balloon, with "rubber raspberry" nipples and which he must wash off when he's done using). |
Ramona Falls – If I Equals U Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Thanks for keeping this updated :) So a couple more minor corrections. I found them from this link that another user posted on the lyrics I'd transcribed for other songs on this album : http://www.ramonafalls.com/ReadProphet.txt Considering it comes from the official Ramona Falls website, I'm assuming it's legit (although there are a couple instances in other songs of some very slight variations between what Brent wrote and what he actually sang in the studio.) Anyhow, to save you some time here are the few corrections I found: "I'd sell my talents" rather than "tell my talents" and "To recreate ourselves in kin" rather than "again" That second little change is quite telling. The idea of trying to "recreate" yourself through your child (basically to live vicariously through them) really summarizes this whole song for me. The more I listen, the more I feel this is my favorite of the entire album. |

Thanks for that link. I'll update all the lyrics I posted for this album. |
Ramona Falls – Archimedes Plutonium Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Check out Brent's explanation at around 3:30 in this video. http://blip.tv/btrlivestudio/ramona-falls-btr-live-studio-ep116-6097984 Basically Archimedes Plutonium is some internet personality with a lot of whacky, "out-there" theories about the universe. I think what Brent is trying to say is that even though this Archimedes guy might "waste" all his time on these crazy theories, there's still something admirable in trying so hard to find meaning even if your ideas might not be mainstream or may very well be absolute BS. It's still a noble pursuit. I believe the "You'll never know/ you already know" is Brent saying that even if this guy is correct about all his theories, he'll never know that he is because they're either unprovable or else we'll never have the available technology to prove them in our lifetime. I'd say Brent (or the speaker in the song at least) feels a strong connection with this Archimedes guy even though he doesn't know him personally. He wishes Archimedes could know or feel how much he cares about his work or supports him. That's my take on it anyhow. Maybe if I took the time to read about some of the guys weird ideas then I would see even more depth in the song. |

Nope, no booklet or lyrics. The packaging is very clever/unique but also minimalistic in terms of the info it provides. |
Ramona Falls – Divide by Zero Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Mine ends quite abruptly at 4:04 of a file of length 4:07 and I took the files directly from the CD. I think that's just the way it was written. |
Ramona Falls – The Space Between Lightning and Thunder Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Anyone have other thoughts for the "With secrets with crystal times of pitch" line? That was just my best approximation. Or alternately, does anyone have an explanation as to how that line as I've written it could make more than just vague sense? |
Ramona Falls – The Space Between Lightning and Thunder Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Thanks again =) I think you're right about both. The only reason I ended up settling on "fork's range" was because (a) I couldn't get myself to hear anything else and (b) I was thinking about "forks" of lightning. I will change these right now... |
Ramona Falls – Helium Lyrics | 12 years ago |
Thanks! That was definitely a spot where I took a shot in the dark. However, now listening to it again with what you said in mind, I think it's "Win or lose; it's not up to me." You hearing that too? |
Ramona Falls – If I Equals U Lyrics | 12 years ago |
I think it's "recreate ourselves again" rather than "souls within" Also, do you have any idea what the quiet, background whispers are saying at the beginning? It sounds to me like "We like to..." or "Like ya to..." Something along those lines. |

Brilliant interpretation and well said. Thanks for sharing =) |

You're welcome! Glad you took the time to consider my suggestions =) |
Ramona Falls – Bellyfulla Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Oh, and one more! I know I'm really anal about these lyrics, buuuut: "...THE seashell PRESSED against my ear" |
Ramona Falls – Bellyfulla Lyrics | 13 years ago |
A beautiful song on an outstanding album.. A few things I noticed: "...you PLUCK silvery strands..." "Currents moves inks" I realize changing "move" to "moves" creates subject-verb disagreement, but that's what I hear him say... Actually now that I listen to it again and taking the aforementioned issue into account, I think he may say: "Current smooths inks," referring to the way erosion by water sometimes smooths down rocks and creates streaky, inky patterns in them. |
Ramona Falls – Always Right Lyrics | 13 years ago |
A couple possible corrections: --- "shape your life" rather than "shave" "First offenders" rather than "Worst offenders" And, as the previous poster noted, "scan them" instead of "skim them" |
Ramona Falls – Going Once, Going Twice Lyrics | 13 years ago |
My best guess on the last verse: --- I mean the angels, they number 23, I love the angels, and they all obey me. --- The first line there would seem to make more sense if he said "meet" rather than "mean," but I swear I hear an 'n.' I suppose that it could be a very warped "amen." Pretty sure on that last line though. |
Ramona Falls – Russia Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Great job with the lyrics! A few very minor, nit-picky corrections though. I capitalized them for clarity: --- "A trip to the Nile where I started swimming UP STREAM TILL I finally found the spring brimming" "when it was over, their tails were wagging. FOR I taught them tricks" "And I lapped it seven times, which caused it to fall. It spilled out HER fortune, I found EXHORTATION" --- Like I said, very minor, but I love this album so much that I want all the lyrics to be perfect =P |
Ramona Falls – I Say Fever Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I think that in the "hot potato" verse the last line is "If I'm the plowman, she's the piper." As for this verse that follows, I'm at a loss myself to what he says, but most of the written lyrics sound inaccurate to me... Unfortunately I don't have a better take on it to provide. |
Ramona Falls – Melectric Lyrics | 13 years ago |
This whole album blows me away... One of those few albums I can't stop listening to over and over, even after the 10th time. Anyhow, I noticed one possible error. In the last set of lines I think what "she says" is "Keep an open heart," rather than "Sleep, don't open up." |
Ramona Falls – Clover Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Ooops; one error on my own part. That one line in the third set should say "If I'm dreaming you" like all the other ones, rather than "If I'm dreaming me." |
Ramona Falls – Clover Lyrics | 13 years ago |
My first post on here! I thought this version of the lyrics had a few glaring errors, so I just decided to rewrite the whole thing. I left out nearly all punctuation for the sake of not misinterpreting the author's intent: ---- If every tree points to a star If every tree points to a star I bent the tips all over I set a snare for clover I bent the tips all over Nothing is as special as this Nothing is as special as this Nothing is as special as this It's frustrated love It's frustrated love If I'm dreaming you and you're dreaming me Then why don't we choose a different story If I'm dreaming you and you're dreaming me Then why don't we choose If I'm dreaming you and you're dreaming me Then why don't we choose a different story If I'm dreaming me and you're dreaming me So why, why Probably forget to rememeber it You'll probably forget to remember it (Probably forget) This fun, it feels like toil (Remember it) So ripe it's going to spoil (Probably forget) This fun, it feels like toil (To remember it, probably forget) Would start to let us finish it (Remember it, probably forget) My heart wants just to know that it exists (Remember it) Would start to let us finish it My heart, my heart, my heart, my heart, my heart If I'm dreaming you and you're dreaming me Then why don't we choose a different story If I'm dreaming you and you're dreaming me Then why don't we choose If I'm dreaming you, then you're dreaming me So why don't we choose a different story (Why - if - this - dream - is - to - die) If i'm dreaming you, then you're dreaming me (Why - if - this - dream) Then why I do not understand If time is smooth If time is rough I do no understand If love must go Away with trust I may want you, but you don't want me So why wouldn't it be better to leave I may want you, but you don't want me So why wouldn't it be better to leave (If every tree) I may want you, but you don't want me (Points to a star) So why wouldn't it be better to leave (If every tree) I may want you, but you don't want me (Points to a star) So why wouldn't it be better to leave (If every tree) My heart wants just to know that it exists (Points to a star, if every tree) My heart wants just to know (Points to a star) ---- |
