Muse – The Small Print Lyrics 15 years ago
As the song was originally titled Action Faust, it definitely relates to the Faust story, as you can see in the lyrics. The lines "Say it'll make you insane / and I'm bending the truth" address Faust's attitude of blaming everyone but himself for his situation, something which in the story he never gets over. In this, the Devil/Mephistopheles tells him "you're to blame / for all the life that you'll lose", because he was the one who agreed to it. Though perhaps the hidden clauses were in "the small print", that small print was always there; Faust could have considered the dangers more seriously had he not been clouded by his own greed.

However, the song is no longer called Action Faust. This makes me think that it's been deliberately changed to take the meaning away from the story of Faust and more into the realms of metaphor. I'd say it fits in with ideas about corporate bodies, especially the music industry; when people buy into these organisations and sign a contract, they're giving into the corporate power and selling out, so to speak. In this sense, one might say it's about how the world we live in forces us to make these deals with earthly, corporate devils, and we will all then claim ignorance of the small print when the truth of the deal hits us.

Muse – Falling Away with You Lyrics 15 years ago
I'd say it's about the aftermath of a breakup, where one person has been completely destroyed by it, and yet can't - or won't - let go.
This person has allowed the other to become their whole life, and without them, everything they had before will also "crumble away". The line "staying awake to chase a dream" suggests to me that the only thing now keeping them going is the pursuit of an impossible dream, wanting everything to be the way it was and forgiving the other person for everything they've done, but it can never be enough.

Foo Fighters – Everlong Lyrics 15 years ago
Personally, I often find it annoying when somebody tries to shoehorn in a sexual interpretation when I don't see it at all. But then there are times when I'll listen to the song, and suddenly feel that the lyrics are about sex. As is the case with Everlong.

Having said that, I think there's more to it than that. To me, it's about fearing the end: of a relationship or of life. They take it "slow how you wanted it to be", because otherwise they'll hasten towards the end, but then there's no enjoyment, no passion. Just being in love brings them closer to the end - I feel the line "waste away with me" is very sexual, but also carries that threatening note of decay. And so, in the chorus, he (or she; I think the song can be from anybody's viewpoint) wants this one perfect moment with his one true love to last forever.

To me, it's rather bittersweet, because obviously we all know that the dream of freezing that single moment is impossible, and that the fear of the end will inevitably be realised, but at the same time it's so emotional and passionate that just briefly, it almost seems possible.
