| I really like this interpretation. I wish more people would write about what they feel instead of what they think. You hit on every inch of this song in your story, and it's much appreciated :) | |

Instead of everyone repeating "it sounds like he's describing a mother", shouldn't we be saying father? In bambi, the mother dies not the father. So if the father is mourning, that would actually make sense given your theories. Fun facts: Bambi's mother was killed in the beginning of the movie. Bambi was a male deer. "oh, you can watch it when you get a bit older but for now in the bad bits, I should cover your eyes she painted pictures with the tips of her fingers sewing buttons to Bambi, tying strings to a kite" My Theory: The "she" described here is a heart-breaker. She is cheating on the main character. In response, he is yelling at the her, and doesn't want the child to see the "bad bits". About the kite: I think it's referring to the mother playing with the child. Which is why she is the "killer with the colored kite". The child still loves her and the main character does not. "I was always a winner and I was barely alone". He is still in a relationship, but still feels alone. "tangled up, tongue tied tell me what to do" She doesn't know what to say, he doesn't know what to do about the infidelity. Almost 90% of songs are written about relationships, which is why I think my theory makes more sense than the mother argument. And if this song were about death, I don't think it would be as upbeat. I'd like to think "...spinning threads to a throne..." refers to puking in the toilet, given the first stanza "...came home wasted...". Not a king's throne, a porcelain throne :D |
