Sufjan Stevens – Romulus Lyrics 10 years ago
Feels almost like a thematic prologue to his newest album "Carrie & Lowell," doesn't it?

Cold War Kids – Fashionable Lyrics 12 years ago
Such a great ballad full of so much passion and emotion. It invokes the image of a girl who is the epitome of poise and elegance, who is kind of aloof and cold, but she has to be because she is so broken inside. It also sounds like the narrator had a chance to be with her, to be the one to sweep her off her feet and to heal her brokenness, but he let it slip away.

It always makes me think of my idealized conception of New York at night -- both refined and gritty at the same time.

House of Heroes – Galveston Lyrics 15 years ago
Basically, this song is about a girl that has unfairly given up on a guy (I suppose it could be the other way around except for the line that goes "couldn't find a better man" and the fact that its sung by a guy) and not really giving him any chance. He, in turn, lets her go, knowing that he is right in everything he's done and there is nothing more he can do. The one part I don't fully understand is the first verse, which is the only part that actually mentions the song title. Its confusing to me because the way it starts it sounds like it's the beginning of an adventure between two people, and the start of a better life, when in actuality it's the end of one. My only guess is that it's talking about what could have been.

Initially I thought this was a pretty mediocre song, and that there wasn't much substance to it, but I've actually started to like it a lot more, probabaly because I can relate perfectly to it now. I've had a person give up on me for no fair reason. I've had a person who only wanted what she couldn't have. My one dissappointment regarding this song is that it tends to sound so bitter that you don't really pity the singer, but, as the song says, "it's honest".
